Not happy. I had drainage work done summer 2025 in my…read morebackyard. It took 1 month and many people coming to help the main contractor. spring 2026 and actually drainage is worse. I called to talk to Jason about what can be done. I was basically told we've had a lot of saturation this year and any concerns should have been voiced at the time. They were voiced to the man who was doing the work. not all of the work that was in my written estimate was completed either as the contractor who was here said it wouldn't be necessary. An existing run was completely removed and not tapped into. I was told in the end, the month of work was a loss to them. Probably why they don' want to help me now. And being a woman, you're not listened to or taken seriously. I wouldn't advise using for any water/drainage work. No warranty or even want to make it right.

He asked very detailed questions to ensure he understood exactly what we wanted to accomplish. The estimate was quickly produced, and was exceeding thorough and clear, spanning a full 2-pages, itemizing all that the job entailed. When there were possible ways of saving money, he offered them. He also suggested a number of clever workarounds we had not considered. The estimated amount was a bit less than the other two quotes we received. In addition, it included items others had not thought to suggest. Other companies said they could begin in 4-6 months. Jason said he would begin in 2-3 weeks and complete the sizable renovation within 3 weeks. Once we agreed to move forward, everything was wrapped up within the timeline he estimated (from my experience, a rare feat!). All members of his crew were friendly, diligent, and highly competent. They were efficient on site, demonstrated great skill, were cautious not to damage anything, and performed a through cleanup, leaving nothing behind. The final product far exceeded our expectations! A formal complaint is currently active with the State Attorney General due to…read moreundocumented business practices, false public statements against me, lack of transparency, and severe safety violations. Over the course of a week, multiple different subcontractors were sent to the property solely to take repetitive measurements, stalling actual progress. When I requested active proof of Workers' Compensation insurance and liability policies for these crews, the owner repeatedly dodged the questions, blaming "limited cell service," and later labeled me impatient for expecting the project to move forward. Most critically, the owner insisted his crew could "work around" an uninsulated, active overhead utility wire sitting inches from the roof. He explicitly instructed me not to contact AES Ohio to safely sleeve or drop the hazardous service line, prioritizing project speed over lethal site safety. Following my original Google review, the owner publicly posted false personal statements online to discredit my character, claiming I failed to pay a contractually required deposit. He has also publicly claimed he never instructed his crew to work around the live wire--a complete falsehood that I have documented screenshot proof of. Furthermore, he is twisting the timeline of a homeowners insurance claim that I personally withdrew upon realizing a mistake, attempting to falsely imply the insurer denied it to make me look dishonest. The written contract and text records contradict his public claims entirely.

Ellis said the would be 6-8 weeks to get started. I checked with Ellis on August 29th. Ellis said they were still waiting on a permit from the city. I called the city of Kettering after 6 weeks. Kettering said there were no permits filed for a deck. September 11th, Ellis said they just submitted for the permit. Fast forwarding through three months and dozens of texts, calls, and failed inspections. Our deck was completed JANUARY 16th!!! Nearly 6 MONTHS after we started. I really can't express the frustration we encountered using Affordable Fence Builders. Lonnie and Ellis seem like nice guys, but we would never hire them again.
