I have been of fan of Rhines for years. The service and attention to detail is impeccable. I have had a various items repaired, purses, shoes, boots and a belt. The time frame for the repair is always reasonable and the prices are decent for the quality of work performed. read more

Rhine's Cobbler Shop - He is open again! - Shoe Repair Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Not the best craftsmanship. I've been getting my shoes done elsewhere for years but the shop closed. Came here because of the reviews and I'm just not sure HOW? I brought both my exp pairs of shoes in to get the grips put on the bottom. This is just 1-set of photos. It's sloppy work for the price. I paid less before and the work was amazing! I'm not a fan so I will not be back. Not to mention he's not the nicest and I went twice during business hours and no one was there. read more

I am sad I'm just now received Rhine's because I've been coming here for years but this is the only place I get my shoes repaired at. I'm a flight attendant and I pedal the pavement hard. My shoes take a beating. Every time I bring my shoes here for repair they come back cleaned, shined and the bottom of the shoe is always well done. He repairs shoes so well I've brought him my favorite work pumps twice for a sole refresher and it lasts at least a year each time. Bring your leather goods here. He knows what he's doing and you're supporting a lovely local business. read more

Super fast turnaround time, and suggestion on what was actually needed to 'make my sandals not slap the floor so loudly, be so slippery.' I got these sandals in Italy and want them to last forever, but they weren't as I wore them through. Read in 3 days, somehow- much much faster than other cobblers in the area. Good pricing for the work he did- my sandals should have been made this way from the start. Solid work, will definitely come back as my best shoes need improvement. Highly recommend read more

I was so amazed with the work he did!! I wish I took a before picture of my boots - the heels were too high and the heels and soles were all plastic, so I just couldn't wear them - because of the height and I would just slip constantly. But the insides are so comfortable, I didn't wanna part with them. I took them here and he was able to shorten the heels and he put grip on the heels and soles so I don't slip. And he cleaned them up. They look like brand new boots. I'm so happy I went here! I always have a hard time finding comfortable shoes - so it was worth every penny for him to fix them. I've been going to Rhine's since he was up near 17th and Park Ave. Nope. He doesn't want to be your best friend, but he is a kind, hard-working, honest man who knows shoes. He's restored, repaired, and resuscitated every pair of shoes I've taken him. He's re-soled countless pair of dress shoes, polished and shined all my dress shoes throughout the past 15+ years, and he's given me the hard truth about what he could and could not do. He knows his craft; he knows leather; and he knows shoes. Once he moved into downtown, I started taking colleagues to him, each of whom appreciated his attention to detail and raved about his restoration of their shoes. This man and his business are a testament to what it looks and feels like to know a trade intimately, to run a business independently, and to be excellent at what one does. No. He doesn't want to be your bestie. He wants to work with leather and to do his job right. If you care about your shoes, then this is the only cobbler in town for you. read more

Fantastic skills & service ! My partner & I brought in a few pairs of boots to be repaired, different types of repairs too; when we came to pick up (which was only a week wait btw!), we both could not stop smiling & talking about how incredible our boots looked. We were both so excited to wear our boots again after repairing them with Rhine! From tearing apart & hurt to walk in boots to looking nearly brand new & more comfortable to walk in! As long as this shop is standing, I'll always bring my shoes here. Thank you! read more

I have a pair of very expensive off white leather boots with crepe soles that I managed to get some stains on. Took them to rhines and i am SO glad I did. Better than new. Sad people buy cheap shoes and throw them out after they get worn down these days. I buy expensive shoes and take them to a cobbler so that they last a lifetime. Unfortunately a good cobbler is hard to come by these days and I'm so happy I found Rhines read more

I called around to get a pair of boots repaired. The heel fell off on both boots. Everywhere I called quoted me at a minimum of 2 weeks for a turn around on the repair of the boots. I called Rhine's Cobbler Shop and the gentleman said he could get them done in just one day! I dropped them off and sure enough they were ready the very next day. The heels looked perfect, in fact he repaired them with a better quality heel than the original heel. Very professional business man, I highly recommend this place if you want your repairs done with quality and fast! read more

I've been patronizing Rhine's ever since I moved to Denver nearly a decade ago. Stepping into the shop is like stepping back in time - it looks, feels and smells like nostalgia. Cash only, history documented all over the walls, footwear of all kinds strewn throughout and blunt, no bullshit service from Tommy, the shop owner and cobbler. He gave me hell one time for using mink oil on my shoes, claiming it breaks down the leather, which is contrary to some sources online. Over time the beautiful leather from that pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes broke down just as he said it would. Over the years, he's replaced ~10 soles on various boots and dress shoes, all with the highest of quality craftsmanship at a fraction of the price of his peers. Cobbling is a beautiful, but dying art. I'll continue to bring my business to Rhine's in an effort to keep that art (and my shoes) alive. read more

I had a favorite pair of shoes that were no longer being made by the manufacturer. The heel was falling apart on one of them and Rhine's was able to repair it and replace the other for good measure. Prices were extremely reasonable and I still have my shoes. The shop is small and cluttered but it didn't matter to me. I wasn't planning to stay and they've been in the same location for decades with a very old school vibe. The shop is around the corner from my office, they had the shoes fixed in two days, and the counter guy offered friendly service. In an era where things are disposable, it's nice to find somebody that takes his craft seriously. read more

I just took my shoe into Rhine's for repair. He fixed my strap on the spot. Fast and sturdy repair. I love all the old news clippings and history dawning your walls. You are my new go to Cobbler despite your grumpy demeanor. I don't need you to be nice to do good work. I might be grumpy too if I had to deal with stinky shoes all day too. Call before you go. He keeps his own hours. read more

Basic sole repairs adequately done. However, I will never return nor recommend to anyone else, due to extremely poor customer service. I walked in and said, "I can get soles replaced here, right?" The owner sarcastically replied, "No, it's a donut shop. What do you think we do here?" Then he walked into the back before helping me. There's multiple shops where I can get sole replacement done, without attitude. They also only accept cash, which they did not specify up front. Luckily I had enough cash with me to cover it, but it could've been very inconvenient. read more

This place is just Terrible. I have brought shoes in for repair, a few different times. Each time I have been disappointed by the high price for low quality work. I have only been able to pick up my articles on time once. Everything else has been lost/unfinished at my scheduled pickup time. - Bag with a leather strap to be repair. Really poor looking / sloppy stitch job that did not match, nor held up beyond 4-6 weeks of light use. - Multiple pairs of shoes. I am hard on shoes in various weather/conditions/travel. However I have had shoes repaired all over the country. This place charges a really high premium for simply low quality work. I have seen incredible results from other cobblers for MUCH less. - Leather Purse for Zipper Replacement. This has actually held up for 2-3 years of almost daily use. He matched the color perfectly to the bag. Only piece I have come back happy with. The last time I brought a pair of shoes to this establishment, he came out from the back to yell at me for the condition of my shoes. His Son/Nephew who was working the front was horrified and profusely apologized for the way he acted. This is a great example of the customer service, because this man has been very rude on several occasions. However, being yelled at when paying someone to do a service is unacceptable. read more

A wise friend once said that every woman needs a good manicurist, hair stylist, tailor, cobbler and the list goes on...but the ladder sparked my attention! As an avid shopper and possible shoeaholic, I have tons of shoes, most with normal to extreme wear and tear. In the past, my solution for a broken heel or scuffed toe was to donate and buy new, but not anymore. I came to Rhine's based on a recommendation from my co-worker and Tommy did not disappoint. I brought him my favorite black suede boots that had recently been victimized by Mother Nature and he was able to revive them! I dropped my boots off on my lunch and by five he had them clean and polished. He even colored the heels to blend in the scuff marks! Now, he does not accept credit cards, but I'm a millennial who knows how to use an ATM, so I'll be back. Thanks Tommy! read more

Rhine's Cobbler Shop - My beauties. Black and back! - Shoe Repair Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Took 3 pairs of shoes that had heels worn to the wood. Yeah, these Colorado winters are hard on my transplant pronation. Less than a week later, they are not only repaired, but the shoes are shiny...oooohhhh purty. The price was ... well ... I won't say, because I hope this guy raises his standard repair fees; it seemed really low for the quality. The heels were well done and the finishing work (angles and glue lines, and finished shape) were excellent. He even managed to fill? repair? a nick in the black leather that wrapped the heel. I'm sure I scuffed it on a lovely boulder in Boulder. Among the 3 pairs was a particular pair of boots that I brought to another shop last year. At the other shop, their work was sheisse. The other shop charged me for ONE PAIR what Rhines charged for ALL THREE. Man, raise your prices just a bit! I'll still come here. About his demeanor. Who the fuck cares. (Would you chose a surgeon based on manners?) Bring cash. read more

I loved this place. I had worn my boot heals almost down to the wood and they were repaired beautifully. You can tell the owner really knows what he is doing and cares. Wow, what a concept. In addition to the fine work, there is a really great feeling to this place. There are really cool newspaper articles all over the walls, great music playing, the place just has a good feeling. I actually came home after having my boots repaired to see if any other shoes needed repair/shine because I wanted to go back! I like it, I'd definitely go back. read more

I went to this shoe repair shop on the referral of my brother. He mentioned that the owner was not particularly friendly, but the work was good. That's all I cared about. I went in with a pair of shoes I wanted altered. I wanted some straps cut off and the stitching to look like it matched the rest of the shoe. What I got was a roughly cut strap w/ messy white stitching - the shoe was black with beige stitching. I called attention to the stitching, which he fixed with brown shoe polish and a lot of complaining under his breath ("this is a repair shop, not a shop for alterations"). When I called attention to the whole job not being satisfactory, he gave me my money back and told me he did not want to do business with customers that were so "particular" and "rude". I'm glad I got my money back, but I won't go back. P.S. He even short changed me when I first paid him. I don't think he liked me from the minute I walked into the store... read more

Dirty shop, terrible customer service....only reason he gets 2 stars is because he fixed my boot which was paid for by the Frye company. Rhine's Cobbler Shop - #goat and a #ghost - Shoe Repair Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Let me begin by saying, I love shoes, really love shoes. Enough to own well over 100 pairs. :) For me to hand over my boots, especially my FAVORITE boots, is a big deal. On with my story, I work two blocks from Rhine's, and was in immediate need of repair. I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. That was a mistake. All I needed was a seam stitched and heels replaced, sounds simple enough right?? Not so much! I came in a week later (two days after they said they would be ready) & he couldn't find them!! He kept asking me if I was sure I gave them my name. Ugh, yeah I'm sure. After a few tense minutes, he located them shoved under a HUGE pile of OTHER people's shoes (seriously that is nasty!). As it turns out, he never fixed the seam and offered to do it while I waited. 10 minutes later he emerges with my favs. I was horrified to see what looks like tar slapped on my beloved boots! He quickly shoved them into a grocery bag and tells me $18.00. I write a check (they don't take cards & I never carry cash) without saying a word. I am too dumbfounded to even express my disgust, besides I can see already it's too late to salvage. I grab my mutilated former beauties & walk back to my office. I get into proper lighting and see not only is there tar, it does not look like the seam was stitched!! In addition, my heels are not any better. They replaced them with the wrong size pegs, that were crooked and the wrap they used to cover them was already peeling at the end! My boots are ruined. :( Needless to say, I will not be returning to Rhine's and would not recommend anyone else go there either. read more

I'm not sure where the complaints about attitude are coming from...whatever his name is, the owner seemed friendly enough to me. He even came outside the store to wave me down when I was a block up the street & having trouble finding it. And MOST importantly, my heels came out great. I've had other repairs in the past that leave my shoes with a squeaky noise. Squeaky noise is even more embarrassing than the 'click click' of metal on marble floors when your heels are completely worn. There are some other fine shoe repair options downtown, but this is by far the most accessible when it comes to parking. It's also $9/pair for re-heeling, and a good price alllllways makes me happy :) read more

I seldom write Yelp reviews, but this place warrants a review. I dropped my two pairs of my boots off on a Monday (a pair of Helm boots and an old pair of Frye boots), and he told me his machines were down for the week and that he'd be backed up quite a bit. Not only did he keep me updated on the progress of my boots, but I got them back exactly a week later and in all seriousness, both pairs looked and felt BETTER than when I originally bought them. I will bring all my boots to Rhine's from here forward. Thanks a ton for the beautiful artisanship. read more

I LOVE Rhine's Cobbler Shop. It is located right downtown. The owner is good at what he does. He will scold you if you wait a long time to get your heals fixed. He has worked magic on a few of my favorite pairs of shoes. He is quick and reasonably priced. Couldn't recommend Rhine's more. The ONLY issue is they are cash only... so stop by the ATM before dropping off your shoes. read more

This man saved 2 pairs of my boots! They were so worn down in the heels that I thought I was going to have to toss them out. One pair had a leather covered wedge where the leather was peeling up (guess who pounds her heels). Not only did he fix the wedge, he completely shined and fixed up the leather. I couldn't believe how little he charged too! About the 1/8th of the price I was going to cough up for replacement boots. read more

Went twice because of yelp. Hours on yelp are wrong, no one picked up the phone when I called the next day to verify times and address because the address in google maps is wrong. Therefore did not use service despite two attempts read more

I had been here before years ago and was very pleased. I dropped off two pairs of shoes recently and when I walked in they had loud music blaring and playboy magazines were strewn everywhere! It was not pleasant! The glue they used to repair my shoes was stiff and the shoes now cause me to get a blister. I will not go back to this shop again. read more

I went there based on all the glowing reviews - big mistake! Two shoes where the heels needed to be repaired were all smeared in hardened yellowish glue, it was horrifying. A five-year old could have done a better job. My black suede boot had glue stains and a big bold spot that looked much lighter than the rest of the surface. They pretty much destroyed my shoes instead of repairing them. read more

Tommy is the best! He fixed my suede Burberry wallet and a broken zipper on my boot. He's wonderful!

STAY AWAY!!! He has no system to keep track of his shoes. He just holds stuff up and asks "Is this yours?" until he finds your shoes. Went in to have shoes stretched, not sure he actually did the job properly. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and brought in a few more pairs. He lost a pair of my wife's very expensive boots and insists we didn't bring him boots. I show him my ticket and he says "oh, that must be the wrong ticket--you only brought in three pairs of shoes." He won't stop harassing my wife over the phone. STAY AWAY--there are other options nearby. read more

This place is pretty shady. 1-they only accept cash 2-there are no hours posted online 3-no one answers the phone and the voicemail is full 4-receipt is hand written and shows no record of anything (no numbers) 5-there's trash everywhere! Empty bottles, cans etc... I brought in a pair of boots to get resoled and a pair to get cleaned. This cost me 54 dollars which I did not think was a good deal. Also, I came in once to pick up the boots on a Sunday, and they're not open. So I returned on a Friday at 1130 am and a sign was posted 'back at 1030'. Um ok... So it's 1130!? I ran an errand and came back at 12 and still no one there no one to answer phone. I finally was able to pick up boots third try. The boots that were cleaned didn't look much different and the soles looked ok. I won't be returning. read more

This cobbler mangled a pair of my boots. The inside of where my heel goes was torn up, the outside back of the ankle was messed up. I waited months to get them fixed and (this is not a joke) ended up paying less to get them fixed at dardanos than I did to get them mangled here. read more
