I love to do my shopping later at night so I would normally go to Kohls late bc the hours were closing time 11:00 and on the weekend it was midnight especially during holiday season. We browsed with clear intent to purchase for nearly 20 minutes and were treated as though we were invisible. What we did receive was surveillance. An employee followed us at a distance the entire time -- not to help, but to watch. Then a regular customer walked in. The transformation was immediate. Multiple employees rushed to greet him, addressed him as "Doctor," asked about his weekend plans, and provided the attentive, personalized service that had apparently been unavailable to us moments earlier. For context: my husband is also a physician. The difference? They didn't know that. Luxury retail isn't about recognizing certain titles or catering to familiar faces. It's about consistency, professionalism, and making every customer feel welcome. What we witnessed was selective hospitality -- enthusiastic deference for the "right" person, suspicion and indifference for the rest. That isn't upscale. It's exclusionary. We won't be returning, and we'll gladly spend our money at Mr. Wicks who understands respect should not be conditional.

This time we needed a suit for a gala and went it to get fitted, pick colors, etc. the "manager" at the time was a little unprofessional and made some mistakes with our tux. HOWEVER I took the suit back up there the following day and explained the errors and ERIN was beyond amazing and fixed everything to the best of her ability. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and all mistakes were corrected. (FYI we found out the first employee was let go for similar instances).
