Located on the corner of Waiakamilo Street and Colburn Street... enter from Colburn

Recycling aluminum cans and plastic bottles in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... My cousin and aunty drink a lot of carbonated beverages and bottled water at their house. They both don't drive, so I get do their recycling... LOL... I read reviews by my friends, Alexander and Trish... I trust them... so, I went in search of this recycling center... It was a challenge. I went up and down Waiakamilo Street... and down Dillingham Boulevard. I checked Google and found a recycling center on Colburn Street... ahhh... the address on Yelp was incorrect. I submitted an edit online. Reynolds Recycling's correct address is: 1385 Colburn Street Located next to the World's Largest Wave Mural, this Reynolds Recycling is on the corner of Waiakamilo Street and Colburn Street. The entrance is on Colburn Street - which is a one-way street. I had counted the aluminum cans and plastic bottles before I got there. After emptying my bags of cans and bottles into the plastic garbage bins, I gave my numbers to the clerk who tallied up my total. He said that the sign states the limit of containers per day that a customer may bring. Oops! I was over the 200 container limit, but he let me slide. I printed my name on the clipboard and went on my way... Thanks for the cash!

Recycling in Hawaii is unnecessarily difficult, and places with rude staff or that are difficult to get to make it worse. Thankfully I'm always on the lookout for new locations and this has become my favorite. It seems Reynold's loses locations and has to move frequently so it's nice to have a convenient one again. It's tricky to get in here as it's a one-way street. As you drive in, the parking lot is set up and organized for you to simply back right up to the sorting cans. This makes it easier and faster. They're open 7 days a week from 8am to 5pm with no lunch break closure. Prices are posted for redemption. The staff here is friendly. A bonus is it's relatively cool for the neighborhood with large shade trees over the tent area.

Location a bit tricky, must enter on one way street. Once inside the entrance gates, easy access and timely recycling! Friendly crew! Don't forget to tip! Recycling helps to keep da Islands green and also puts some cash back in your pocket!

We only take our HI5 recycling out a few times a year (not a big soda- / juice-drinking family), so it was a big surprise when the online map directed us to a "new" Reynolds Recycling location, because our old location had closed. Turns out, this location--which has actually been open since July 2020--is much more conveniently located, just off of Dillingham Blvd, and they're basically open all day, every day! When you pull into the parking area, take note of the parking signs to your left, right in front of the redemption area. I didn't read those on my first visit, and ended up parking farther away, where a couple of other cars were parked along the fence...but it turned out those were the employees' cars. As with any recycling center, once you arrive, you'll find a lot of empty trash cans sitting around; you just use those to separate out your own cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles, then wait your turn for weighing. There was no one ahead of me when I visited--yay for no crowds!--so I went right up, and the whole process took about 2-3 minutes. While the staff was not necessarily chatty, they were nice enough, and easily answered a few questions for me; I had no problems at all with the service. And while I can't necessarily say that their redemption rates are any better or worse than other companies, I definitely like that Reynolds Recycling accepts ALL plastic HI5 bottles--even the large ones--unlike some other recycling companies that only accept the small, individual-sized plastic bottles. I don't have time to visit different places for different sized bottles, so it's all about the "one-stop shop" for me! Also, the Reynolds location we used to visit (before they moved here), once did a hand-count for our plastic bottles--I believe they'll do that for anything under 200 bottles--even after weighing, and the count was almost spot-on with the weighed amount! Long story short, recycling's never going to be super thrilling, but I really appreciated this new location. The area is clean, safe and uncluttered, with convenient parking, good customer service, and I was in & out with cash in-hand, in less than 10 minutes. That is pretty much all I need in a recycling center, so this will be my new go-to place from now on!

RRR is crushing it…read more.. After my physical therapy session in Kaka'ako finding a spot to recycle was easy as a Yelp check and had no idea that this location right across from the Kalihi Palama Health Center was available and with a quick drive through downtown it was so easy to find and with a surprisingly decent sized lot there was lots of parking to unload your recyclables to the usual provided bins to be processed was just too easy as the guys have a wonderful system with one putting it in the bins to be weighed as the other calculate it I was done in an instant. There's also a T&N Recycling Service bin as well where you can drop off your electronics which is free to do so and is easy as just placing them in the cute little hut as you're able to get multiple disposable done is nice and convenient so there's no additional drive to do so is so recommended to visit this location. Thank you!

Recycling in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I had a bunch of cans and plastic bottles in my car... ready for the closest Recycling center. I used my Yelp app and found RRR Recycling on King Street. There were a couple of customers before me, but the two workers were efficient and quick! I poured my cans in one green plastic barrel and poured my plastic bottles into another green barrel. The worker emptied my Recycling into other gray barrels - and scanned for undesirable bottles - which I didn't have! My items were weighed and I got paid. I didn't have to sign anything (like at the other places). It was a bit less than what I was calculating (because I had counted my items)... that's ok... just a few cents... I'm grateful for the convenience! I'll be back!

Recycling in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. Is it worth the drive to Sand Island Access Road? I think so... My friend, Irene M., told me about: C M Recycling. She said she got top dollar for her recyclables. I went to test it out... The drop off driveway was blocked off with 2 vehicles. It's not a looped traffic pattern. So, I went to the next driveway and was told it's the area for scrap metal. That's ok... I can walk over with my bags of plastic bottles... I gave my bags to one guy who emptied my bottles into a large, square, plastic netted container on a scale. He signaled the weight to the cashier who had me complete a form and gave me the cash. I was guessing that I would get around $5. However, I got over $7 Yay! I'll be back! Thanks for the tip, Irene!

Knowing made it easy…read more.. After a few rounds of taking in recyclables understanding the process does take time but is totally worth it in the long run as C M Recycling is now gonna be my go to place to have it all processed as it was the easiest as along we follow all the rules. Rules are standard regardless of where you take them have it all sorted out and cleaned no caps and gosh it does make it so easy especially at locations like this where there isn't room for parking as there's just two stalls as this biz sits right on Sand Island Access Rd. so if there already a couple of cars there just wait on the side which many do until they're done and allow them to reverse out so that you can drive forward in. Once there the staff takes your items and load them into a huge basket and is being weighed and just fill out and sign the form and that's it super simple and easy and honestly I think it get much more in return here than an any other places that I've been to and I don't need to touch any yucky stinky trash bins. Hours are 8-4:30 and closed on Sundays but so fast and easy and totally recommended. Thank you!

Recycling in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I've never been to this Redemption Center before, so Irene helped me find it. GPS took me to the side where there's no driveway. We had to go around the block to get to the entrance on Beretania Street. The driveway doesn't really have a sign. The lot is surrounded by a tall chain link fence. The worker was so kind and conversational. He apologized for not being able to pay me for the used glass from religious candles. He suggested that I take them to some industrial area. Well... if he wants to give away the decorative glass containers, he can. Maybe someone wants to use them as vases or pencil holders? Thanks for being so nice!

I don't want to give a recycling center one star since I'm such a believer in recycling and reusing things, but this was a really scary experience! A homeless man was following me around and then an Asian lady who had no front teeth tried to assault me. There seem to be a lack of green buckets, which is where you have to separate your recycling materials. The people there were hoarding all the green buckets. Literally, the lady who tried to assault me had five or six buckets and then cursed at me as I walked by. I didn't feel safe here. Sad because I've been here several times over the past years. I won't come back.
