Last night I shattered a 10-year-old molar crown. No pain but it was definitely raggedy. (I should mention I haven't been to a dentist in over 7 years...yup, my bad!) I emailed Tooth Ferry at around noontime and, by 12:30 p.m., the business manager (Scott) called me and asked me how quickly I could get in. I was there by 1:20 p.m. I believed (due to past experience) that they would remove the remainders of the old crown and make a mold for a new one, and maybe put in a temporary crown. Normally you have to wait a week while they send the mold to the manufacturer, and then you come back to have it installed. Well, little did I know that the Dr. Michelle Reynolds does on-site crown manufacturing! Within minutes I was in the back getting a panoramic x-ray by Jill, of the dental assistants, while Scott called my insurance company to see what they would pay. After the x-ray, I waited maybe 10 minutes for Dr. Reynolds to come back from lunch. She took a look at my x-rays and my broken crown. Since I was a "work-in," she told me she could complete the new crown within an hour if I didn't mind waiting while she took care of her already scheduled patients. Since I was going to be traveling in the next few days, I said I'd wait.
Since I hadn't been to a dentist in years, I was definitely nervous. I asked if they offered nitrous and they do! Just knowing it was available helped my nervousness immensely, even when Dr. Reynolds said she would be doing a "nerve block" to anesthetize the area around my tooth. She was so good that I didn't feel any pain while she was injecting the numbing agent. The nerve block worked so well I didn't feel the need for nitrous.
Long story short, I was at the office for maybe 1.5 hours as I was cared for in between already scheduled patients. Dr. Reynolds kept me informed of everything she was doing. The mold was taken and my new crown was ready! They matched the color of my surrounding teeth. Once it was installed, I could barely tell there was something new in my mouth. It felt natural!
Because of Dr. Reynolds and her amazing staff, I now am prepared to start a program of dental care that I had put off for so many years. I can't thank them enough, and can highly recommend Dr. Reynolds and Tooth Ferry. read more
