We had visitors from out of town and were taking them to some locations in the area we thought they might like. Reynolda Gardens came to mind and we decided to visit on a Sunday afternoon. The gardens are on the grounds of the Reynolda estate created by tobacco magnate R. J. Reynolds and his wife in the early 1900's. The country estate encompassed more than 1,000 acres. Today the gardens include 125 acres of woodlands, fields, wetlands, and a 4-acre formal garden with greenhouse. We decided to check out the formal gardens area. There are all kinds of flowering plants and trees surrounding the area. Many of the plants have labels so you know what they are. We enjoyed our time walking around and would love to come back at various stages of the year and also go inside the greenhouse. Parking and garden area is free.

Even when I went in the winter, Reynolda Gardens has a quiet charm. There may not be as much greenery or blooming flowers, but the stillness of the gardens really gives you a place to deeply contemplate life. Going there feels like you are taking a step back in time to a simpler time. I really look forward to visiting again, especially in the spring to really see everything in its full blooming glory :)

Oh my, these gardens are a must see if you are in the area. They are beautiful and well maintained. Park and walk the gardens free of charge. Leashed dogs are allowed on the property, but not in the gardens. There are paved pathways and benches. The gardens offer numerous varieties of plants to view. If you want some of the plants to take home, I highly recommend attending their annual plant sale. They sell many of the shrubs, trees, annuals, perennials, and vines at reasonable prices. Overall, these gardens are a great place to visit especially on a nice day.

Beautiful gem in Winston Salem! Stroll around the flowers, plants, vegetable garden, and the wonderful area called Reynolda village. Lots of color, lots of unusual flowers, just such a pretty part of town that I'd never taken advantage of before. So glad I took the time to come out here. Not overly big, but just enough to see , talk a nice walk and then go get something to eat or drink in the village. Greenhouses full of plants, Rose garden, lots of beautiful tomatoes! I took my Mom and she totally loved it as she is very much a gardener. Found lots of unusual flowers which I'll look up or look for next year when we redo the yard. Loved this place.

Located about 3 miles from downtown Winston-Salem is the estate of RJ Reynolds. The home is actually an art museum, you can pay to enter but the gardens are free. There are many walking trails to enjoy nature. Parking is free and plentiful. If you walk past the gardens you will get to the village which has shops and several popular eateries. There are acres of gardens to walk through though it was just before spring when we visited so not a whole lot of flowers yet. There are several greenhouses as well as events they have throughout the year.

The Reynolda Gardens are a beautiful place to spend some time strolling. The gardens are a part of Wake Forest University. This was my first time visiting the gardens and I enjoyed the autumn colors as well as all the plants in the gardens. I will be back to see the plant changes in other seasons as each season has its unique beauty. Admission is free and there is plenty of parking. The garden design seem well planned out and symmetrical. The gardens are divided into different sections. A formal garden is where I started with some roses and sections based on colors. The middle sections was growing vegetables and herbs. The last section I visited had many varieties of roses. The greenhouse was closed because of COVID. This was a safe outing during COVID as it was easy to keep a safe distance from others.

How couldn't you love the Reynolda Gardens? We stopped in after grabbing donuts and coffee at Dough Joe's l. The sights of the garden were fantastic! Beautiful and fragrant flowers in bloom, lots of little frogs in the ponds, and some really great vegetable plants to take a peak at in various stages of bloom. Overall a very beautiful place to take a stroll.

The gardens are beautiful and a great place to visit after visiting the Reynolda Home. The gardens are free and there were so many beautiful flowers in bloom in July. The tropical flower building was closed in July yet there was plenty to see outside. Next door are shops and the Village area and it is all within walking distance.

Beautiful gardens...some areas were not in bloom or in the process of fading. Lots of space to walk around, take pictures, some shaded areas to relax in...the vegetable garden was being worked by many people and a couple in the greenhouse too. Everyone was friendly, nice smiles and at least a hello.

I went for a walk on the garden trail. Very nice with a lot of shade on a hot humid day.

Free open to the public garden for a relaxing afternoon walkabout. Check out the Reynolda House next door and Reynolda Village nearby.

My time at Salem College brought me inadequate food safety inspections, and only superficial bandages to cover a much deeper problem. Salem College has now fired their Director of Diversity and Inclusiveness, a decision publicized after students left campus. A decision that, once again, shows Salem College is only interested in bandaging, but never fixing the deeper issue. Salem College has become the kind of place that is still discussing a trans student policy 5 years later (although they are quick to tell you they value their students as individuals), but was able to write, review and publish a protest policy within a week of students organizing a peaceful sit in. My time at Salem College also brought me a degree. A degree I credit to my amazing and devoted professors. A degree that I, and many of my peers, received in spite of the administration in place.

This was my first visit and I developed mixed feelings upon arrival. The place is under major construction and several of the parking lots are in need of major repair. Once I located the visitor's lot, I asked a worker for a building location and she happily showed me the path, and was very friendly, as well as helpful. The bookstore is going through major renovations, and the classrooms looked clean with proper technology in every room. At first, my meeting was delayed for a few minutes and I thought this was a horrible sign of things to come but after the group warmed up to me presence, the 1 hour meeting turned into a 2 hour interaction of good, positive talk about developing change in this community. Overall, from my experience as an outsider, I will give 3 out of 5 stars for Forsyth CC.
