Having been around for almost 50 years, Union Bakery may be no frills, but there is no lack of flavor in the food, and the staff are always super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very home-y, with wood paneling and some signage that may have been around for the entire existence of the spot, which gives makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. My best friends, their kids, and I come here for one of the best yet simplest breakfasts that you can find anywhere in town: eggs over easy, perfectly fried potatoes, the crispiest bacon you will ever encounter, buttery Cuban bread, and a cafe con leche. When I tell you that this is the crispiest bacon you will find, I mean, it's a pile of bacon that crumbles in your mouth, is salty and smoky, and yet, teeters on the edge of being too well-done, but it's actually just perfect. I think you can tell how much I think about this bacon on a daily basis. The bread is buttered for the gods, great to make an egg sandwich, dipped in gooey yolk, and/or dipped in coffee. Why not all three, since there's plenty of each? I will never get tired of this breakfast, and always love how taken care of I feel from beginning to end by the friendly staff. If I'm not full (this never happens) or I want a treat for later, I would highly suggest getting a guayaba or guayaba/cheese pastry to go. I selected several unlabeled and unpriced items by pointing to them. A cake slice was light, fluffy, and tasted of corn. A diamond-shaped cookie was light and toasty with a beautiful crunch. A plantain bun(?) was creamy, slightly sweet and so interesting with a brown sauce in the middle that was slightly spicy. The bread round was my least favorite item as the taste didn't really appeal to me. Although everything was plain and lightly sweetened, the textures were so good. I like being able to purchase cookies for my son that are clearly low in sugar. Half the fun was not knowing if these items were sweet or savory or breads when I selected them; it made each bite a fun surprise!

Five years ago when she moved to Florida where she made a care er change and she began her baking business by creating custom cakes in her home kitchen. From there she was able to expand out to opening her own shop serving all kinds of baked treats. The adorable pink and white bakery was built by Careli's husband Kevin who also built the selfie booths at So Selfless Selfie Studios in the mall. The bakery cases are stocked with cookies, cakepops, alfajores, cupcakes, pavlova, bread pudding, tres leches, strawberry shortcake, quick breads and volcano cakes made with Venezuelan chocolate. They also sell custom cakes with some examples on display made out of styrofoam. I believe my friend learned about this bakery from Instagram and wanted to check it out while we were in the mall. Although we both really wanted to like our desserts my friend found her cupcakes dry and my cannoli shell was soggy. Cannoli are best when piped fresh and I should have known when they took one already made out of the refrigerator case. The bakery is super cute and I would consider stopping by again.
