I asked his opinion of what might be best for my face and he suggested a brow lift and a facelift which included my neck. The thought of the brow lift initially scared me so I was reticent and thought perhaps I shouldn't do it. What I loved was that Dr. Lavey did not push me into the brow lift it at all. After another consult I decided to proceed with the brow lift in addition to my facelift and I'm so glad I did. What a huge difference. After hearing from my best friend about the amazing breast augmentation that Dr. Steven Williams…read moreperformed on her (December of 2025), I felt compelled to consult with him about revising my post-breast cancer reconstruction. From my very first interaction with the practice, I was impressed by their commitment to exceptional patient care. Living outside of California, I met with Dr. Williams multiple times via telehealth to meticulously plan my surgery. He was consistently upbeat, realistic, and impressively knowledgeable. This was to be my third breast reconstruction revision with implants. Although my previous revision was not bad, achieving aesthetic perfection in breast reconstruction is nearly impossible, which makes the goal of improvement challenging. I also needed the internal pockets that hold the implants to be restructured so they would not flip over when I sleep on my side. The implant exchange surgery went smoothly, and I felt very well cared for there. It even smelled nice inside the surgical suite, located right next to the Tri Valley clinic. Even though I understood that everything went without a hitch, I made the hasty mistake of peeking underneath the bandages. This caused a moment of panic and ensuing distress. I'm embarrassed to share this because my professional expertise used to be treating people with Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Nevertheless, in those weeks following the surgery, I experienced significant dysmorphia about my breasts...severe dysmorphia to be totally honest. I perceived my breasts as positioned too close together and saw distortion on one side. Dr. Williams met with me earlier than our scheduled follow-up to address my pressing concerns. During our meeting, he was exceptionally reassuring and informative, explaining that all my concerns would gradually resolve themselves. With his charisma, reassurance, and sincerity, the good doctor improved my perspective on the outcome. I felt very heard when I voiced my concerns. Once I was back home in Colorado, he personally called me to track my questionable mental health. Given how he handled my case, I find it fitting that Dr. Williams was the former president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the foremost authority on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery worldwide. He is a dynamic public speaker and a leading surgeon. Just like he claimed, each of my concerns were resolved. Once the swelling subsided, the breasts no longer looked too close together. They were perfectly placed and sat very well on my chest. The distortion on the side of my right breast...GONE. This outcome has actually surpassed my hopes and high expectations. Because of Dr. William's astute implant choice for me, the breasts move more like real breast tissue and generally look more natural than either of my previous reconstructive outcomes. They have great symmetry and are the perfect size for my frame. They even fit well in almost every bra I already own, so they're exactly the same size as my native breasts. I believe these new ones have exceptional aesthetic appeal thanks to the surgical precision, steady hands, and an artist's eye of Dr. Williams. I have minimally visible incision lines (see photo), a full range of motion in my upper body, and zero pain. The goal of better anchoring the implants inside tightened pockets was also achieved. It has been about four months since my surgery, and no implant flippage has occurred (and they have, shall we say, been utilized recreationally). One lover of mine remarked about my new breasts, "They belong in a museum". Though it has been great to hear such feedback, I think it is more important that I actually love them now. The decision to undergo the revision was so right. So recently when I decided on rhinoplasty and various facial nips and tucks, I did a considerable amount of research. I learned that despite being a common procedure, rhinoplasty is incredibly complex. Although any plastic surgeon might attempt it, it soon became clear to me that only a double board certified facial plastic surgeon has the education to perform a reliable rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, lip lift, or really most any facial procedure.  Narrowing my search to SF Bay Area double board certified plastic surgeons, I started reading reviews and comparing CVs. I checked state board records, Reddit, Yelp, Google Reviews, HealthGrades, etc etc.  Of all the CVs I examined, Dr. Matthew Tamplen's was the most impressive by a large margin. From his GPA and his awards to his prestigious fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Tamplen's background was not just impeccable, it reflected an unmatched depth of training and talent. Reading his online reviews further impressed me.  I did consult with several Bay Area facial plastic surgeons, and found all but one to be knowledgeable. Upon meeting Dr. Tamplen, I found him relaxed, confident, and professional but still congenial.  I settled on him to do my procedures and couldn't be happier.  Every procedure Dr. Tamplen did was simply perfect.  I'm not sure what more I can say about the results. His education and experience are reflected in my outcome.  Scars are minimal, and I look naturally refreshed. My nose is refined and subtly shaped. Despite my husband's oft repeated fears, it's not "a Michael Jackson look," and even he is impressed.  The intensive research really paid off. I found the best double board certified facial plastic surgeon in the bay area, and probably the country.  I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Tamplen.

In July of 2022 at age 65 I retired and my entire life I wanted a beautiful straight, symmetrical…read morenostrils, less bulbose tip of my nose and a less wide nose. First Time: After three consults with different surgeons in the Scottsdale, Az area I chose Dr. Tamplen. Paid him his 14k for the Rhino. He and his team were great, but the first Rhino was very botched. Not straight, crooked column, assymetrical wierd nostrils. Second try: To try and fix the my crooked nose he performed an "in the office" alar procedure to try to make my nose straight. Nose was still messed up looking. Third Try: Dr. Tamplen actually took me back in to surgery of where I was excited to think maybe he would take all avenues that many cosmetic surgeons take to make a nose straight. There are many techniques a surgeon can do to construct a straight symmetrical nose. Again, to my sadness, my nose was still crooked. I still looked deformed. Fourth Try: In February 2026 I scheduled the fourth time, but cancelled and rescheduled for April 3, 2026. I spent money to fly to AZ waiting for the day to come. About a few days before the procedure, an office lady called me and told me I needed to pay $ 2,500 for the surgery time. I was so surprised because all along all Dr. Tamplen and his staff would say " all we want you to be happy with the outcome so we will do whatever it takes." I was very upset about this because my sister had her facelift revised by Dr. Tamplen, for free of charge. The office lady said, well we have done a lot for you and your sister. I told her well I am a different patient and why can't he perform my revision free? I got so upset that I said to forget it and never tried a fourth time. You will see in the pictures how crooked and messed up my nose it. I don't even want to look at a person straight on. My advice is to ask the surgeon what he is actually go to to perform a Rhinoplasty. Ask if he is going to take part of the rib, or other grafts to do a perfect job. I always wonder how do accident victims get their faces fixed so nicely after scars and more? He kept blaming my crooked nose on a scar below my nostril. My nose looked better before I had Rhinoplasty. Also just because a surgeon is top notch in their class does not mean they have "artistic" ability.
