The first time I had a Brazilian wax was in Embarcadero center and they did a mediocre job that I could've done myself so I never thought about paying for a wax again. I saw Shayana post Rewaxation was offering free waxes for their trainees to practice so I decided to give Brazilian wax another chance! This was my first time at Rewaxation and was immediately impressed with how welcoming the environment was. I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes early and was offered drinks. I got started right away and had the trainee do the waxing with an esthetician mentoring. Since this was a learning lesson, I felt they were very attentive to removing every single hair. Tl;dr: skin ripped off in two places during a Brazilian, I'd said something at the time when things seemed off and been dismissed, large enough wounds that they haven't healed over in two days and I currently can't wear normal underwear/swimsuit bottoms. I'd come here once before, and that time was totally fine. Had a new esthetician this time, and while she was friendly, something soon seemed off. Specifically, she wouldn't pull any skin taught or direct me to do so when it seemed really necessary--literally no physical contact pulling skin taught with her other hand when applying/removing, no instructing me to pull my skin taut, and no instructing me to reposition in a more optimal way. This floppy one-handed waxing on completely loose skin seemed odd, and hurt more than usual, so I brought it up two separate times, because she'd paint wax on the labia and it would get all over, including catching hairs on the *other* side, or dripping places it *really* didn't need to be (I'll let your imagination figure that out), all of which made things a lot more painful and felt pretty sketchy. Both times I mentioned hairs outside the area were getting caught and asked if there was anything I could do to reposition myself or hold anything to make the skin taut, she just said it was "fine" and "it's just because your hairs are long," so I trusted her and dropped it after the second time. At the end she never had me turn on my side and instead told me to hug my knees into my chest while lying on my back--for a while. It was wildly different from my prior experiences but I just trusted that she knew what she was doing, even though it felt pretty strange and significantly more painful. I didn't realize till I got home that skin had been ripped off in two places on my outer labia. Fast forward to two days later: the two wounds are large enough that they haven't healed over yet and I'm just dealing with them and trying to keep them clean. I can't wear underwear or a swimsuit without irritating them because they're near where the edge of those garments would be. And the rest of my skin is still rough, red, and raw--which has never been the case for me two days after a waxing before--and there is significantly more stubbly/leftover hair. Haven't left a review for anything in ages, but I am absolutely livid and kind of in disbelief that I paid and tipped for this. If there was a sfw way for me to post a photo with this review, I would, and will happily send a photo to the business if they want proof--I mean it. I've taken one, timestamped metadata and all. They were running a new client special so a wax was only $30! The location was very clean and offered a variety of snacks and bevvies. My experience was good- I opted for the sugaring and it was a bit painful but manageable. They even went in with tweezers after which was good. Overall, def a better option that European Wax Center but when I went home I still had to do some plucking as there were at least 10-12 missed hairs. read more

So, i got to my appointment on time.. waited 10 mins for this Alex who was already short with her responses and just plain unapproachable, i thought, hey she's probably having a bad day. Fast forward to awkwardly placing myself in this very tall table for waxing, half naked and legs wide, she then proceeds to tell me that trimming was necessary for sugaring? And that she will just wax me instead of the sugaring service I wanted. My time and hers was wasted because I was not informed that trimming was necessary? This was the first sugaring place I ever went to that made me feel shame for not trimming before a damn sugaring. It does not make sense because what if clients don't know what length is appropriate?
