Things happen for a reason because about an hour before I came here, I tried sitting at the bar and…read moreordering pizza from another restaurant in town but they turned me away because there kitchen was closing (despite me arriving there 40 minutes before closing) so I was walking down the street with pizza on my mind. I was directed by some young men to check out a spot and when I did I realized it was your late night drunk pizza slice joint. Not what I wanted so I left there empty handed too. I was defeated and starving and was considering walking back to my hotel and door dashing junk when all of a sudden, a girl turns the corner of the block I'm standing at with a pizza box in her hands. I said "Yo girl where did you get that pizza from and are they still open!?" She said, "Antonia's and yes!" I told her I tried getting there before but my maps got me lost and she told me it was down by the Barnes and Noble, hidden from the street, which makes sense why I didn't see it on the main drag. So in I go, it's small, it's cute, it looks like people are making magic happen in the back. I am greeted by the owner of the place and I told him I wanted to order some pizza. I definitely came to the right place. They had a personal pizza, exactly what I wanted and so many options! I made small talk with the guy, told him I was from New York and he insisted I come back to let him know what I thought and then told me his pizza is very different from New York Pizza. So this is me coming back to tell you what I thought. You rock and your pizza ROCKS. I had trouble deciding which to get and he guided me. I went with the Margherita despite him telling me it was simple and straightforward. That's exactly what I wanted. He told me to get the SLO crust, which was a house made crust seasoned with herbs and spices, oregano and garlic, he insisted it had the most flavor the one I should go with, so I did. They had SO many crust options and pizza options like: meat lovers, Hawaiian, veggie, greek, mediterranean, bbq chicken and many more. I also ordered sweet potatoe fries which is so wild for me because I never do that but I was on vacation and this place gave me happy good vibes. He said it would be about 20 minutes so I took a walk and when I came back it was ready and like $35. Woof. I thought that was expensive kind of but also I ordered a pizza to myself and fries so I was just really hoping it was worth it. Spoiler alert: it was SO WORTH IT. I got back to my hotel, took the pizza and sweet potato fries and garlic sauce on the side went out onto my balcony and was in absolute vacation heaven. The pizza WAS SO GOOD and SO different. It was unlike any pizza I had ever had before and so not my style but I loved it. The crust was soft but thick and fluffy but also had crunch, the flavors were insane and the fresh basil on top delish. This was a specialty pizza place exactly what I wanted. The sweet potato fries were stupid. Probably the best sweet potatoes fries I have ever had. I am so glad that random girl turned the corner with the pizza box when she did. And this place is OPEN TIL 2 AM. Quality quality place. I hope this guy kills it, everyone go here.

We started off with a Smokey the Pear which perfectly balanced the smokiness of mezcal and the sweetness of the pear liqueur, while the egg white gave the drink a smooth and full-bodied feel. The Cucumber Smash was refreshing and not overly sweet, could be a great go-to for someone who likes to keep it simple. For our appetizer we went with the Autumn Panzanella salad and I cannot recommend this salad enough! Every ingredient was a perfect addition without overwhelming the entire dish. For our main course we chose the Detroit style Ricotta & Honey pizza. Simple and absolutely delicious. I recommend getting a bit of ricotta in each bite, it's the secret to keeping the heat of the pepper flakes and hot honey at just the right level. I usually prefer a thin crust but the Detroit style was executed wonderfully, not too dense or too doughy. Both the salad and pizza are a decent portion and we split them between two of us. We finished off the night with the Cast Iron Cookie and paired it with a Cold Brew Martini. Shout out to our bartender for recommending we add a splash of Bailey's to the martini! I do wish the cold brew was a bit more concentrated but overall a tasty drink. The Cast Iron Cookie takes about 15 minutes to prepare, so make sure to place your order early. Service was prompt and attentive! Overall would highly recommend.

We shared the Carminucc' and Otto pizzas, the Otto was my favorite because of the goat robiola. Hey Girl Hey cocktail was very good, and I really appreciated they offered a CBD infused drink, lust peachy. It was very refreshing and a great alternative for a fancier non alcoholic drink. We were quick to be seated, greeted by our server, and everything came out quickly (on a Saturday evening) which was nice. We sat on the patio and we had perfect weather that day so it was nice to have the fresh air. We have eaten inside before and also liked the inside ambiance as well. My wife and I went here in college and I'm glad that during our most recent visit, things tasted just as great as we remembered! Hope to be back on our next trip to SLO!

My pasta dish was good, but for the price point, I was expecting a whole heck of a lot more flavor beyond noodles and meat grease. On a side rant, why do expensive restaurants often have flimsy to-go containers? I would give them a 3.5 but rounded up for the good service.

Pros- service (Macon) was great from the moment we sat down at the bar. My husband and I came in at 6pm, on a Tuesday, and this place was hopping! The complimentary bread and dip were a delicious start to a truly tasty meal. I'm planning to replicate it at home! We had the beet salad, carne (skirt steak special), and the best carrot cake I've ever eaten. The texture had some similarities to a tres leches cake, I think they soak in some sugar or honey water in/on it... it was super yummy! The cake had a homey, familiarity to it, but it also tasted like something completely new to me too. I loved it!! I will be in SLO every so often for work, my husband says it's the only place I need to come to, lol! No cons- mmmm, maybe make reservations, if possible. We walked from our hotel here and no place was as busy as here!

We were seated about 15 minutes later, and our waiter came over to take our order. My wife just ordered a salad. I asked the waiter about the Capesante e Gamberi dish I had seen on Yelp. He explained the ingredients, and I gave him a thumbs-up to indicate that I was interested in ordering it. Perhaps the restaurant was too noisy for us to hear each other clearly. The waiter left the menus on the table but never returned to check whether I was ready to order. Eventually, I had to raise my hand to get his attention. When walked by our table he never checked to see if we needed more water or anything else. Based on my dining experiences, I would normally expect a server to return after leaving the menus to see whether the guests are ready to order. I found it unusual that this didn't happen. I don't want to jump to conclusions based on a single experience, and I cannot say for certain whether the service we received had anything to do with bias. However, the combination of these interactions left me feeling uncomfortable and wondering whether we were being treated differently. I kept calm and still tipped as a good human being. Life is too short to let people affect me. Hopefully, this was simply an off night, but unfortunately, our first impression was not a positive one, and the service left us with little desire to return.

The vibe is friendly, lightly playful, calm, welcoming and sincere in a way that I can feel but not quite describe. And then there's the pizza... They use sourdough as the base, and it's cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of crisp at the bottom, very soft and doughy on top and the tomato sauce they use is deep and rich without stealing the show.
