I'm very particular with who I let cut my hair, but in a pinch for Valentine's Day, I decided to give this spot a chance since it's close enough to my job to get cut during my lunch break. Bad decision. Mert, I believe was his name, was very nice and gentle, but what I explained I wanted for a haircut is not at all what I got. I'm Jamaican and Albanian with longish (5" roughly) 3b curly hair (not anymore after this haircut) and requested to just have a low taper on the sides, and a lineup including beard. I said I may have some split ends, so maybe I'll trim very little off my hair just to keep it healthy. Mert proceeded to comb out my hair with a brush (1st mistake and I should've stopped him here) then completely buzz up the whole back of my head, and at that point, there was no turning back to correct this screw up. I let him finish in hopes that my haircut wouldn't look terrible, but the cut progressively got worse. I stopped him towards the end after he trimmed inches off the top of my hair to ensure I'd still have some curls left and not a buzz cut and had to have him blend my hair better because it looked terrible. I told him to just box line up the front corners and the cup line the sides into the beard.. this was the worst part of the haircut and it seemed Mert had never lined anyone up like this before. I was left with uneven sideburns and a screwed up mustache, I even had to lift the front of my hair because as he was "box lining me up" he was cutting off the curls that droop over my forehead. This is actually the worst haircut I've ever gotten, zero exaggeration. I typically don't leave reviews because I'm not one to complain, but if you're black/spanish with curly hair or want a typical shape up/edge up, this is not the spot for you. I'm beyond disappointed with my haircut.

He cut my neck line in a V pattern, trimmed the sides down too low to the point it almost looked like a chin strap, cut into my mustache, squared one side of the beard and rounded the other. All of this THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING! Then he had the nerve to try to charge me for the beard trim! They now accept appointments which eliminates waiting and is particularly convenient for me since I am only able to get there on the weekend. You'll get to know Hector, the proprietor, as soon as you walk in. He seems to know everyone in town and you'll soon enjoy talking to him too. (He's an expert on sports by the way.) He keeps the shop in great shape and continually upgrades both the barber chairs and the seating if you need to wait. He pays attention to your needs whatever your style. He's also great with children and families. I was very lucky to find him from the day I moved to this town.

In all seriousness, Kristina is a very talented barber/hair stylist who has many years of professional hair salon experience which results in a consistently top-notch haircut. In addition, she takes her time, not rushing and is fun to talk to while taking a genuine interest in chatting with her clients about their lives and enjoys discussing whatever movie is currently playing on the television. I appreciate that she does to my hair exactly what I ask for. I also enjoy the refreshing hot towel treatment on my face, as she washes my hair after cutting it. Her prices are reasonable and fair market rate for this region. I applaud her recent relocating to her new independent salon business location to the Sola Salon Suites in Madison, NJ, which allows for more adequate automobile parking. All in all, I can and do highly recommend her services to any guy who wants a high-quality haircut in the Summit/Madison area.
