She was able to book me a session this afternoon. I am beyond perfectionistic & I had a very bad experience at my prior salon leaving me REALLY nervous to have another stylist color my hair. Bobbie is a dream. She welcomed me right away & had a long, VERY professional conversation about where my hair was at & where I wanted it to be. She was honest, kind, caring & most importantly- made me trust her expertise & eye. I'm SO happy I did! She worked on me for 3 hours & even gave me tips on how to style my naturally curly hair, guided me towards the right products to use at home and repeatedly let me know that it's okay to ASK QUESTIONS & let her know if I had any concerns or wasn't happy with the way my hair was looking. That wasn't an issue because Bobbie did an impeccable job on my blonde balayage. She was able to blend my ends seamlessly into the partial balayage, add definition and was SUPER sweet, calm and welcoming throughout the whole service. When I walked in to Vicki Popp, I could tell I was the last appointment, and that they just needed to finish my hair before they could go home, but at no point during my appointment did anyone make me feel rushed, unwelcome, or uncomfortable. I don't tend to get my hair cut/styled at salons (they do), use color (they do) or really do much to my hair beyond wash it (they do). So I wasn't feeling the need to go to his salon several visits ago, and went begrudgingly because they nagged me and were paying. I have been converted. Rob is truly an artist and has found ways to cut, style and color my hair that are very complimentary to my aging face, EASY to take care of, and make me look much younger while looking totally natural. We joke that I come to NJ now, not to visit family but to get my hair touched up and visit with Rob. You can see evidence of his dedication to the craft by looking at his collection (mounted on the wall) of various scissors, the many certificates he has earned or been given in gratitude, the many awards he's received...and in testament to his ability, most of his clients come to him via word of mouth. I have long wavy hair with a loose curl. When she began I briefly reminded her what I wanted for my length during shaping. She snapped at me that she knew that already. I didn't appreciate the attitude. The she blew my hair straight to shape it. I can see why you may want to do that with some hair types, but with my curl pattern and the way I wear it, it had no benefit. I think it's important to have the knowledge to distinguish when a technique won't benefit that individual. After she was done with the cut I was washed and she wanted to blow it straight again. Ironic that someone who felt the need to reprimand me for reminding her on my desired length, did not remember that I explicitly said I only wear my hair curly.
