Working with Revive Remodeling (or Revival Remodel, whatever they are called now because they changed their name) was the worst experience of working with a contractor I've ever had in my entire life. I hired them to build a pretty simple fence in my backyard, and I almost wanted to tell them to go home halfway through. Here's why:
The first and most obvious thing was their lack of professionalism. They were terrible at communicating and NEVER showed up when they said they would. They told me that they would be at my house the next day "bright and early" to start the project, but they never showed up, and when I called them to ask where they were, they used every excuse in the book (this happened several times, so they used a bunch of different excuses). Another time when they said they would be there "bright and early" the next morning, they didn't show up till 3 PM.
The second thing was the time it took them to finish the project. On their contract, it stated that installation would start within 2-5 weeks of signing, and he verbally said it would be a 3-4 day project. It took them 2 MONTHS to even get the materials delivered to our house (again, they used every excuse), and when the materials did arrive, they didn't even start for another week and the whole build took 3 WEEKS!
The third thing, and probably the most important to people reading this review, is the poor craftsmanship. I held out hope that after all the headaches it took to get the project started that they would at least build a good looking fence. Nope. Several of the fence posts were crooked and I had to ask them several times to fix it before continuing. They kept installing damaged panels that I had to call out and ask them to replace, and if I didn't catch them, they would have been left there (I understand stuff gets damaged during shipping, but its their job to check to make sure the material is good before installing it and throw out the bad panels, not install them). If you can't tell, it took EXTREME amounts of micromanaging to get the fence even looking halfway decent, so if you don't want to have to micromanage your projects that you pay them to do right, I wouldn't go with them. They also tried to start building the fence without having the proper permits from our city's zoning office, and we had to call them out on it and stop them from starting the project until they got the permits.
And finally (the last thing worth noting anyway) was the clean up. Instead of hauling away the dirt like any sensible renovation/construction company, they just spread it out on my yard near the fence posts. And this wasn't a little dirt around the posts to make sure the posts were secure (like they claimed it was for) - it was 3 feet of dirt surrounding every single post. I had such little trust in them at this point that I didn't even call them back to fix the failed clean up process (I had already asked them twice to clean up more), I just went outside and finished cleaning up the dirt myself. To make matters worse, I found a cigarette butt in one of the piles of dirt that they left near a post. I have a small dog, who this fence was built for, and he likes to sniff around in my yard. I'm just so glad I found the cigarette butt first or he would have eaten it and gotten really sick.
Moral of the story, do not, and I repeat, DO NOT hire this company to do anything regarding remodeling your home, or at least definitely not a fence. This was the worst experience of my life and I hope I can even save one person from choosing this company. read more
