It's now been three months, and the pain is still gone. Waking up every morning without pain has been life-changing. Perhaps most concerningly, while most massage places have allowed us to select our masseuse, Ritual prohibits it. I was required to book via a third-party website and there is no option to select your massage therapist. They just assign you someone. If you want a woman for purposes of safety and comfort, too bad, you get who you get. If you book here you will pay $250 (with taxes, tip etc) for a cheap, oily massage, as I did. According to the menu we were handed, things that are normally included in massages - for example, targeting places of pain - are an extra cost "add on," which is absurd. The massage itself was terrible, we were soaked in oil afterwards and so was our clothing. Pants were ruined. This place is a total rip off. Be wary of anyplace that has many 5 star reviews from "new" yelpers who have never written reviews before. They have no actual details or info and may not be legit. P.S. The owner routinely harasses yelpers who write authentic reviews. (There is no rule that reviews have to be from this week. Nor are yelpers required to disclose the time and date of their visit. That's just creepy. The owner would be wise to heed constructive feedback rather than abusing reviewers.) Skip this place.

I went to a few professionals for a cure - chiropractors, and they told me they do not work with skull or jaw-related parts. Then I went to my dentist, he honestly shared that dentist and TMJ specialists are different in their scope of practice, he recommended me to try wearing a nightguard and Invisalign, see if it helps with my jaw pain, my physician couldn't connect me to any specialist in Kaiser treating TMJ either. I cannot stand with the pain for another 2 years to risk the uncertainty so I kept on my search until I found Julie. I was desperate and then I found Julie on yelp, I read her profile on the personal website and made an appointment with her. Honestly, I went in the session with a heart of the least expected and came out feeling that was the best decision made and the most well-spent money in years. Julie started with an assessment and thorough inspection of my movement which causes me pain and the pop. Even I was the one having the problem I know nothing about it and why, turned out my jaw shifted a little bit and kinda 'unhooked' in a way because of my long time habit of chewing and sleep pattern. At that moment I thought, man it's gonna take forever to heal the pain and pop because I had no idea it's a thing that built up for 10 years! Then the miracle happened, Julie said It would only take O N E session for me to be good again and then follow up session is flexible depending on my change of habit and care. Julie then started treatment with me, her magic hands were massaging my jaw area and I could tell that she knows every acute point that was suffering pain and causing my problem. The session was about 1-1.5 hrs, I felt I have connected to my body again and the feeling of knowing what causes my problem was so great, which I never experienced gaining such clarity by going into other professionals. The result: NO POPPING SOUND! I was like, no way ... I couldn't believe it! My husband was skeptical because he hears the popping sound every time when I yawn or try to eat an apple but the sound is gone now! We were both truly amazed. I do not even have the word for it because I was frustrated with my previous experience and I didn't expect it to be so helpful. Julie also shared some nice tips in protecting my jaw movement. You may wonder, as I did, whether it is a long-lasting effect or just for that day, I am writing this review after months of my first session and the popping sound never comes back! My jaw gets sore at times still, due to my eating habit and sleeping habit are not completely changed.
