However, when I called them to come and install a carport at my mom's house next door, they were very quick to take my deposit. The very next day we found out that my uncle on the other side of the country is on his deathbed. I subsequently called my rep to advise that we were going to have to cancel the installation because we need to use that money to fly the family out there to see my uncle before he passes. I was told that my deposit is nonrefundable, even though it was not mentioned verbally to me. It was apparently on the document that I signed, but obviously I didn't read every single fine print and it was not mentioned to me verbally. I am being told that the best they can do is hold a deposit for any future install. This is ridiculous to say the least. A death in the family is a pretty good excuse and this heartless company is holding onto the $400 deposit as if they had started actually working on the account. This was a day after the visit so they didn't even start cutting metal or anything. And oh yeah, not to mention, my mother is recently widowed, 87 years old, and relies on Social Security for her income. The manager that was supposed to call me back three days ago has not bothered to call me to discuss this at all. I am disinclined to ever use them again, and if anyone ever asks me about this company, I will gladly share this.

Getting a plumber, or any type of contractor, to actually show up at your house for a small job, is…read morenext to impossible these days. I called Ben, and he was very receptive to squeezing us in for a minor plumbing issue. When Ben showed up (on time, I might add) he said, "I tell ya' what- I'm going to show you how to do this yourself, so you can save some money." He gave me a brief tutorial, called his plumbing supplier, and ordered the part for me, and said to call him if I had any issues. A few hours later, I picked up the part, and after about 20 minutes of amateur plumbing, the issue was completely resolved. We paid Ben $95 for his trip out to our house, and for the tutorial. This probably saved us about $200 from what other plumbers would've charged. Ben, of Ben's Plumbing, is a class act, and he is definitely who I'll call with any future plumbing concerns.
