Visited Lowe's home improvement for a plastic cover for a runner in my hallway…read more North Bergen Lowe's is very nice. As always, go in the store for one thing, come out with more than I intend to get. Saw the beautiful flowers, and immediately ran to the garden section. The store had a portable grow room, why did I see that? My mind wandered to, how nice it would be to grow my own green leaf lettuce, and various veggies I use to juice with daily. The service at this store was super fantastic, the staff in the garden center are very helpful. Could not ask for better service. Remembered, I needed to do a wallpaper project so I needed liquid nails, and the caulking gun. Now I'm wandering around the store thinking of all these DIY projects I could be doing, in my mind...(geez) Now onto flooring, as I'm roaming the store. Alexis walks up to me to ask if I needed assistance. Which I thought was extremely kind, and made me want to spend even more. After looking at the AI refrigerators, washer & dryers, I get to flooring, and this Lowe's does not have the plastic cover I need to protect my beautiful zebra print runner. It's in stock at Rutherford. Based off the service, selection, and value, definitely rate this Lowe's 5 stars. This store offers great value, the prices are great, and better pricing than local neighborhood stores.

They have a good selection of the better or best version of most of whatever you need for your carpentry project, or home repair or renewal. It's more expensive than, say, Home Depot, but there's no comparison in service and quality. They have a staff member who will come over to measure and recommend doors to match your requirements! (I guess since doors are a reasonably big investment?) BTW, I'm a female and have always been treated well - possibly because I know and can describe exactly what I want as an end result, and I look familiar as a return customer? There has always been at least one guy available to jump in to help me find what I need. The guys seem to like being helpful, and having an opportunity to share their knowledge. Of course, knowing I can't go in with a finished list with brand names etc, I tend not to show up during contractor shopping times.

They pretty much only have the basics: nails, screws, etc and what you might need for simple electrical or plumbing projects. Main complaint aside from most of the employees speaking almost no English is their return policy which is not existent because they'd don't take any returns and while it's clearly displayed it's easy to miss. And by no returns they mean it. Even if the same person sold it to you on the same day you are returning it an it's still in the same box and nothing is missing. For that reason I give them 2 stars instead of 3.

Now, from a pricing standpoint, I don't think there are many bargains. When I got home I checked the price of the item I bought. It was $33 at the store and I found it advertised as low as $16 online. The same part on the manufacturer's site is $24. However, if you consider shipping costs and convenience and the fact that I didn't know what I needed, I can justify the higher cost. Plus there is a lot of overhead owning a store in Manhattan and I want to keep places like this in business. So you may pay more, but the service and convenience are worth it, in my opinion.

No prices marked on any merchandise - when you get to the register, prices are sometimes 50%-200% more than what you'd pay at Home Depot. I think they jack up the prices because contractors mostly shop here. The person behind the register just shrugged when I said I can get it for half price online. A Dremel drill kit cost $80 - the same one could be had at Home Depot or Amazon for $56. I wouldn't shop here unless it's absolutely necessary.
