If you live in this area and you need a full doctor medical exam, this is the office you want to go to. Between Dr. Harry Halscheid and his knowledgeable & friendly staff (hi Pam & Debbie), I have been well taken care of for all this time. I have had a long history of issues with my eyes, and was always cautioned to pay attention whenever or if I see bright flashing lights. Thankfully, I didn't travel this Thanksgiving weekend, and I was able to get Dr Reto's attention right away when I was seeing something not right. Through a series of phone calls and text messages we concluded I likely had a retinal tear or detachment. Dr. Reto came in on a Sunday morning after Thanksgiving, and drew his conclusion of a retina tear and put me in touch with an on call retina surgeon (Dr. Saran). Two top notch (no interns here) on call doctors on a Sunday! This tag team surely prevented me from potentially getting a detachment and / or losing the vision in my left eye! This made me lose all trust in their billing practices. If they mishandle a claim or insurance rejects something, I have no doubt they'd just charge the card without doing the proper follow-up. In today's environment of healthcare data breaches, requiring a card on file with no limits or opt-out is not just unsafe--it's unethical. The woman had my insurance wrong and when I tried to tell her that I knew what my insurance benefit was and that it was not as good as she was saying she argued with me and told me she was right. After about 5 minutes of back and fourth and me asking her multiple time to check it again (because I didn't want to be billed more money later due to her mistake) she loudly sighed and checked it. And I was right. She didn't even apologize or acknowledge that she was wrong, just printed a new form out and told me exactly what I had told her my benefits were. Fast forward to me picking up my glasses, I try them on, get them fitted, and head home. I had contacts in but I've never had an issue with my prescription so I didn't even think to take them out to see. A few days later I went to put my glasses on and they didn't feel right. The prescription seemed off and my eyes felt weird, almost like when your glasses are cockeyed on your face and how it makes them feel uncomfortable. I made an appointment to go back and let me tell you, I have never felt so unheard as a patient and so disrespected. The doctor checked my prescription and the glasses and told me that I was wrong and that what I was saying didn't make any sense. She was extremely rude to me and we went back and fourth for a bit and I explained that I understood that it didn't make sense but that something definitely was not right. I asked if maybe my measurements could have been taken wrong at the glasses counter and she said maybe but that she was going to write me a new prescription, so she bumped my prescription up a little bit even though I said that I liked my current prescription. I went out to the glasses counter and asked the woman to measure me to make sure it was accurate and she told me that her measurement was correct and that there was no need. After some back and fourth and me having to start having an attitude she put the device on my face, lopsided, and pretended to check my eye measurements and said, yup, it's correct. I am so appalled. I went to pick my glasses back up after the "changes" and they still don't feel right. I've been wearing glasses for 12+ years so it's not like I don't know how my eyes should feel. I am so frustrated and mad for wasting my money at this place. I will be calling to see if I can receive a refund on my glasses and that will be the last time I ever contact this office again and I will make sure that everyone that I know in West Chester steers clear of this place.
