Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.

Looking to finish off a basement and build a bar. Almost everything was purchased here or at the Oakland store.. The staff is the nicest group of people I have ever met in a store. Found 2 outdoor lights that just needed a lil cleaning. I'm adding a pic ... they were 5 bucks each and the bulbs worked too!

As promised in the message they called me back within 48 hours. We reviewed what I had available and you should know there are " rules". Appliances can't be more than 5 years old and furniture can be old but must be in fair or better condition. No holes or severe discoloration or stains. Of course with everything going on, those who come to pick up your donation will not enter your home, you must have it outside or in the garage. Here are a couple of items to consider if you are going to do this. -- Clean your items. I get they have been in the basement and you don't want to deal with it, but no one wants to deal with your dirt either. Rid all spider webs, dust and or rodent excrement prior to the arrival of the drivers. -- Don't choose the coldest day of the year to move the furniture out in the garage, clean and organize...lesson learned. -- If you don't get a confirmation just give a quick call, something got written down incorrectly and the email didn't go through. -- Offer a hand... there are two guys, one in the truck organizing and one putting the furniture on a dolly. Ever try to move a sofa on your own? Not easy, lend a hand in loading if able!! That's it, receipt sent, garage emptied, phew,
