I was a senior in high school when I was invited to Farmington Elks Lodge for a dinner and ceremony where I and the boy winner were given a check and a framed certificate. I wish I had photographs of the event - this was before the invention of iPhones - but that day continues to live on in my memory. It wasn't a large scholarship by any means, but it meant a lot to me, and I put the money to good use before starting university. About seven years ago, I sent an email to the former local scholarship chairman. He no longer lives in Michigan, but he sent me a very heartwarming reply that my email had brought him a tear of joy and pride, and he was thrilled to hear that I was doing well. I am still meaning to visit the Elks lodge in my current state of residence. I hear the food there is very good. I remember the food at Farmington Elks being quite delicious as well. Another good reason to visit an Elks Lodge even if one is not a member. I'd like to thank Farmington Elks again and I highly recommend its scholarship program to local high school students. I love getting back in touch with people and organizations from my past who have helped me along the way, and I will always count Farmington Elks as a great organization that I would love to reconnect with if I ever move back to Michigan.

Many think they were not spoofing the Last Supper, and that it was really an ancient Greek Bachanaal. Putting that aside, Fr. James addressed it in his homily. He referred to the drag queens as "reprobates." I thought it was odd to refer to other humans as "reprobates" even if disagreeing with their conduct. 2. October 6, 2024 5pm mass. Fr. James gave a homily about marriage. He was sure to clarify that marriage is between a man and a woman. No acknowledgement of love existing between same sex individuals, and I thought this homily at times bordered on just hateful. 3. October 13, 2024 5pm mass. Fr. Seamus spoke about abortion. He took the position that women should not get abortions, and repeated multiple times that there are NO exceptions. He told a story about a mother who was carrying conjoined twins who would certainly not survive long after birth because they shared a heart. Doctors told the mother her life was in jeopardy. She carried the babies to term, and they died shortly after birth. If the mother wanted to do that, I don't judge her. But Fr. Seamus seemed to take the position that all people in this situation should carry to term the conjoined twins who had no chance of survival because there are "no exceptions" that would allow for an abortion. Seems cruel to me. As I understood him, Fr. Seamus continued that we should vote in the upcoming election for life and that life trumps all other issues. I thought certainly in Ann Arbor, Michigan not all parishoners would agree with him, but a good portion of the congregation clapped after the homily. I'll be going somewhere else going forward.

I honestly don't know what kind of person, or what my life would be like today If I'd never met senior pastor, Daniel Wine. This church has been so blessed to have him preaching the Loving Word of God for over 20 years now! The knowledgeable pastors along with the faithful congregation are the kindest, most God-loving people I've ever been blessed to know. It's like one big happy family! This awesome church has numerous times & ways to learn & meditate on the Word. There are multiple Bible Study classes on just about every day of the week covering a variety of topics. There are many activities and fundraisers to participate in throughout the year, including missionary work & charities. On Thursday evenings there's an exercise class in the gym where you can strengthen your muscles along with your faith! Some of the other activities include Superbowl parties, chili cook-offs, silent auctions, dinners, & an annual (Easter) presentation of the play, The Victor, which is magnificent! The Church of the Nazarene also cares for & helps the less fortunate every chance & opportunity they get. Participating in blood drives, food banks, donation of money & clothes, & not only donating money for missionary work, but also going on 2 missionary field trips a year, donating their time & hard work in underdeveloped nations & making disciples everywhere they go! I am so very blessed & I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for allowing me to be part of such an awesome church. She took me through the procedure so well and answered my calls every time i called her, it was so comfortable to get in as a volunteer. Thanks to Ms.Bellie. I was at the Third Street, i volunteered to help in the Kitchen serving the Clients Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, also helped in Cleaning the vessels, stocking items, clearing stock etc., The Kitchen Specialist - James and Mike are very hardworking and sincere, they are very good in preparing the food and very kind and supportive. The Supervisor - Ms.Dukes is another very kind hearted and patient person i came across, she would make sure everything is in place and even speak to Clients if there were any concerns. She always had a word of appreciation for everyone who did their job. I could see the responsibility she would take, may be even mobing the floor i have seen her doing it without blaming anyone or any complaints. She has also come to the Kitchen and helped serval times. Once i had informed her about a leak in the refrigerator, she immediately called for the service and ensured this was fixed. This something we all need to learn from, she is a good example how to get things fixed immediately. Ms.Juanita, the case manager, another very Kind hearted person i came across, she would come to the Kitchen to Help us when ever she finds the time and she is some one we all should learn from. Finally the Director - Mr.Samuel Fields, a true man of God!, i loved his sermons, his singing and sharing the word of God, So awesome... this makes me feel to come back every weekend to serve. Mr.Samuel is a down to earth Gentleman who is so humble and listens to everyone and even for the smallest issue he puts himself in to make sure we are all supported. A Great Team Work, As a Director he is respected by every one by his actions. I spent 8 days and all days were special at this site. I am happy to share this review as i see everyone, right from the entrance doing their jobs sincerely. This Site is truly blessed! Even the Clients are happy to come here as i have even spoken to some of them and they have spoken so high about this Site, its service, the food and people. Everyone is so humble and kind.
