Took my 15 year old son here last week to get a new snare drum. We came all of the way from Miami bc we wanted to talk to someone who really knew what they were talking about and not just a chain store trying to sell us an expensive drum (snares can run from $75 - $1,000's). The owner, Jeff really knows his stuff. It was obvious that my son and weren't that educated in snares - sizes, materials, finishes, sound, etc. He immediately showed my son one of the snares that I had found in my advance research as a good quality, buy. He talked to my son about the difference between this one and more expensive ones, explained the materials and sound in this snare compared to others, how it is made, it's market history, etc. Jeff wasn't high pressure at all. He made his recommendation, demonstrated the snare, then set up a drum kit with the snare for my son to try it out himself. We wandered the store for a little while longer with no interference from him. His price was a little higher than online prices, but Jeff gives a 3 year warranty on the drum (which is at least 2 years longer than most). He threw in an upgraded drum key and a quick lesson on how to properly tune a drum. I found what I thought was a nice boom stand. I brought it to the checkout desk and as the cashier was ring it up, I noticed that the stand was mismatched. The base was one brand and the boom arm was another brand. I told him that I didn't want a mismatched cymbal stand. He said, "No problem...I'll give you a refund, but it will cost you a 15% restocking fee. I took exception to that - especially since I never took it out of the store. I told him that if he didn't stop being a pr!cK, I would never set foot in there again. I walked out of there with NO boom stand and was $15 poorer for the experience. I recommend shopping online with Musician's friend or Guitar Center. You won't have to worry about getting scr*wed. read more

Walked in and my senses started to tingle as I took in the color and smell off birch, mahogany and metal!! Haven't been to my favorite and only drum store in south Florida in many years. It was great to be greeted by a long time friend Evan who I've played many shows with from back in the day. He was super knowledgeable and attentive and even served up a piping hot Cuban coffee. How's that for south Florida hospitality. After catching up on old times I started my search thru the vast inventory of wall to wall, floor to ceiling drums. And wouldn't you know they had exactly what I was looking for. The search didn't last long. This place is still clean and organized and stocked to the brim with all things percussion just like I remember from when I was a kid. Super friendly staff, got to catch up with some of the old school cats from back in the day. I thought I was coming in just to peek around and say hello and walked out with the exact kit I was looking for. A midnight blue Pearl Session kit that's absolutely gorgeous and at a great price. I'm not a musician but my son is, and they have been awesome helping me navigate his journey to becoming a truly polished drummer. I just got off the phone with what is my guess, the owner, Jeff L.., I had a restoration project that I had questions about. He walked and talked me through what I should and should not do. He " HELPED ME " and didn't " SELL ME ". He flat out said " I could use the business refurbishing your drums ( a 1939 Gretsch kit ), but you'll maintain the value of your drum set by keeping it all original..!"
