The teachers cover music theory and how to properly read music in order to play. The school also is one of the only ones to offer a band component as part of the music education. Band enables them to see and hear how many musicians can come together, work as a team and make a simple melody sound like an entire orchestra. The teachers really care about each student and personalize the lessons to fit their interests and abilities. There is a sales pitch when you sign up but keep in mind, this is a business. That said, in the nearly five years my children have been taking lessons here, I have never felt that anyone associated with the school wanted anything other than the best for them and they are truly committed to helping my children be successful. Our instructor, Lauren (who co-owns the business), pushes each of us to play more challenging songs, but keeps it fun and interesting by working on songs that we like and want to learn how to play.
