After talking to couple of service providers, decided to work with Blue Boxer primarily for their sense of urgency and friendliness. Knowing that we were away and there is an elderly person at home without hot water in the middle of a peak winter, Blue Boxer even agreed to wait for the payment until I returned. They worked with my son to replace the heater promptly. The workmanship was great. Reasonable price was just an icing on the cake! Great job Keith and Kathleen Owens for your customer-centric service approach. Thanks.

During that time he or an employee have been to the house three times. Each time, between the time I called and when they showed up, things would start working properly again. So they would try to diagnose the issue based on my description and do what seemed to be appropriate, and things would be fine for a while but eventually the problem would recur. So yesterday he showed up with an expensive piece of equipment to properly diagnose the issue, and having done so, brought in another expensive piece of equipment to fix the problem. He was there for over two hours, and along the way, he mentioned what he normally charges for use of that equipment because of what it cost him. I was OK with it; I was just happy to have the problem finally fixed. But when he was done, he said that he wasn't happy about the past "misdiagnoses" and I shouldn't have to pay for them, and he ended up charging me about a third of what I was expecting. When I offered to meet him halfway, he said, "Sorry, I've already entered it into the system, nothing I can do." I can't promise that you'll get price breaks like I got on this occasion, but I can promise that you won't get ripped off, and that you'll get excellent service.
