I was sent here by the VA for a mandatory sleep study on December 20th. I drove 50 minutes to get here--bypassing clinics closer to my home--because I was told it was necessary. My current CPAP machine is broken, and the staff knows this. I have been without therapy and without sleep for weeks while waiting for these results so the VA can issue a replacement. It has been nearly three weeks. I have called multiple times. Most recently, I called yesterday morning and was promised a nurse would call me back by the end of the day. No one called. If you need urgent care or results, do not go here. The lack of follow-through and customer service is unacceptable for a medical facility.T

Follow-up appointments are very difficult to get because of too many patients and too few (overworked) doctors. Communication efforts with MAs are impossible. They frequently misunderstand and blame the patient when they get things wrong, which is about 90% of the time. Had some really good providers there all of whom left because of being overworked. Some PA's very good, caring people, others are control freaks. They need to put the patients first and hire more doctors, and give them a reasonable caseload. Overworked doctors cannot provide adequate patient care, and given NJH is supposedly the best respiratory hospital in the country, the Sleep Clinic is a joke.

What counts for me is the attention, time and care the doctor provides. Dr. Slamowitz did that for me and this was a very positive visit where he carefully review my medical history and recommendations from other doctors and give me the assurance and confidence that I may be able to become CPAP free. I plan to return to his office without reservations.

I am writing as a grieving sister. My oldest sister passed away at Kindred Long Term Care Hospital…read moreon June 28. Her doctor was Dr. Meter, who is part of Critical Care and Pulmonary Consultants and Kathy Ferguson FAILED my family. I have emails from our wonderful funeral service dating from July 2nd, sharing trouble getting the death certificate signed. They repeatedly contacted Kathy Ferguson and was unable to get the signature. We have been tortured waiting for my sister to be cremated so we can be at peace and Kathy Ferguson is a horrible, uncompassionate, and incompetent employee. Yesterday, July 9th, after SEVEN DAYS of waiting and I had already come home to Seattle without being able to get any of my sister's ashes, my other sister called Kathy Ferguson to try to find out why the death certificate had not been signed. The conversation she relayed to me was gross, dismissive, and demeaning. Kathy Ferguson first lied about knowing anything at all about my sister's case, then when asked where Dr. Meter was, yelled to my sister "I have no idea!" I am beyond disappointed in this whole gross lack of responsibility - let alone the lack of compassion for grieving human beings. I am so thankful that our funeral service has been so kind and caring with the situation. This is not the first time this has happened with Kathy Ferguson- I read a review by another family that experienced the same incompetence and rudeness.

MA's/nurses were rude, obnoxious, and immature. Dr. Hickey didn't seem to care about my illnesses, or the hospital stay with RSV and bronchitis. My paperwork, which was emailed weeks before my appointment was non-existent and when I sighed about it, her response was plain rude. Dr. Hickey wanted a PFT and x-ray but wouldn't do it at my consultation even though the equipment is right there in the office. I'm so exhausted of physicians and practice owners who care about nothing but $$$. NOTE: I'm from Parker CO. Not CA.

I however have had a hard time with follow up and going to this ENT for other matters. It is impossible to get a follow up appointment. I was told by the girl at the front desk that doesn't appear there anymore to take or leave an appointment but that it had to be a date and time that rarely works for me. When I rescheduled it was 2 months before I couple get back in. This wasn't a one off. The same thing happened when my appointment was on a snow day where several roads were closed. I live about 45 minutes north and it wasn't safe to drive. This appointment was never rescheduled. Luckily I didn't have any complications but if I had I am not sure the outcome would have been good since scheduling was such a nightmare post op. For allergies etc I am going to find another doctor since I need some flexibility and to not have to book 6 months out.
