It was hard to make it here during my trip to Phoenix because of their limited hours, but I am SO…read moreglad I did. As a health food vegan, I am always on the lookout for food like this: whole foods/plant-based, including some oil-free options. Their whole menu reads like a list of my favorite food buzzwords: buckwheat, lentil cauliflower scramble, sunflower seed meat, local fermented sauerkraut, freshly milled Sonoran wheat; tempeh, sourdough, homemade seeded bread, homemade cashew milk, etc. etc. It was legitimately hard to decide what to get. I went with the baked(!) strawberry banana oat buckwheat pancakes. Super tasty, and a generous portion. I also couldn't resist an oil-free sunbutter cookie (with its wacky bluegreen tinge that was apparently from the sunflower seeds) and also loved the cold brew coffee with cashew milk.

I've visited The Uprooted Kitchen many times with my best friend. They always have new things on…read morethe menu & it's always fresh, healthy & delicious! It is a little pricey, however, it's worth the cost. As I mentioned, everything is healthy and made fresh. You can't get that without paying a bit extra Their bread is so good, the chutney is awesome, their little side salads are so tasty. I haven't tried anything here that I have not loved. They are a small husband and wife run business, which is always great to see. They are very friendly people who clearly love what they do. There's limited seating indoors, as it's inside Barnone, but you can easily find places to sit outdoors as well.

After having breakfast at one of the local spots in the same plaza, we decided to walk over to Air…read moreGuitar to check this place out. Wow...can I say Wow! again? This is an amazing little (well not so little little) shop that includes groceries, gifts, an enormous full wall of every kind of drink you can imagine! There is a sushi bar, a poke bar, a coffee shop, a sandwich shop, pizza place and then so much more!!! And they do not sell guitars! The entire shop is clean, extremely well organized, and so packed with goodies that you can spend a few hours just wondering. They do sell groceries, many of the basics you need. I did some checking of prices and truly, you may pay a few more cents then going down to the local grocery store, but overall...it wasn't that out of whack! Everyone working was friendly and pleasant and open to questions, responding with suggestions and ideas as well as information. What a true gem in the middle of a busy mixed-use space including restaurants and apartments and other event venues. They have a huge patio and we were told it was 100% dog friendly and they are even to welcome to come into the store to shop with their owners, as long as they are well-behaved. Great find and I say go visit! Can't imagine not loving this place!

I stumbled into Air Guitar after hanging out at Epicenter in Gilbert. They are located on the…read morecorner of Ray & Higley in front of Epicenter. Air Guitar is a general store that is also a combination of a few things. They sell groceries, local products and gifts. They also have a coffee shop, deli and sell slices of pizza. It is a really nice store and a pretty cool concept. I picked up a few products from the grocery section. Air Guitar sells some grab-in-go food items. They have $6 sushi on Tuesdays, so I grabbed one of those. I also noticed that they have a build-your-own poke bar. Head over to Backstage Kitchen if you want to try one of the deli sandwiches or have some ice cream. If you want to hang out and enjoy your food or drink, Air Guitar has tables set up at the end of the store. Happy Hour is 4-7pm Mon-Sat where they offer several discounts throughout the store.
