Cleveland Schvitz is body and soul retreat. Schvitz is a local enigma with an impressive legacy in…read moreCleveland, originally opened in 1927 as Mount Pleasant Russian-Turkish Bathhouse. As someone of Russian descent, I deeply appreciated how the business retained the spirit of banya (bathhouse) with an all day affair - steam, cold/hot therapy, platza, hearty meals, and communal feel. I just visited the Schvitz for the first time and already very eager to return. RESERVATIONS: Cleveland Schvitz is open regular days for men. Select Sundays are reserved for women and co-ed. Check out their Instagram (Schvitz.Cleveland) for posted monthly dates. You can make a reservation via phone (text) and receive all relevant details. Payments will be made onsite. Reservations can be made for individuals or groups. The current admission is $150 per person for the entire day at the Schvitz with unlimited steam, cold plunge, cold showers, patio access, food, lockers (with locks), towels, some drinks included, and champagne on ladies days. Add-ons includes massage ($45 for half hour), platza ($25), and additional food. It is customary to tip. The business takes cash, card and Venmo with convenience charge. The price is very reasonable if you consider that you're retreating the entire day, eating a hearty meal, and experiencing an ancient tradition. Arrive (don't mind the neighborhood, the place is gated, guarded, and feels safe), pay, get a tour, and unwind. HEAT: Steam room at the Schvitz is a huge, old school space with multiple seat levels catering to your heat tolerance (lower level for cool, top level for hot). It's the largest steam room I have ever seen. You can visit the steam room as many times as your heart desires. You can use the sauna au natural if you're visiting on gender days (men's or women's) or in a swimsuit if you wish. Platza ritual is performed in the steam room. It is an ancient tradition that you absolutely must experience. You'll be scrubbed with branches (veniks), body scrub, and herbal soaps. It is meant to exfoliate, improve circulation, cleanse, renew, and serve as an aromatic experience. It makes you fully relax, be present, and feels like a rebirth. Ask for a cool towel over your head to cool down. Sign up for the ritual in the steam room. COLD: Cold plunge (indoor pool), showers, and patio are available to cool you down. I'm an avid cold plunger. I recommend heat then plunge. MASSAGE: Multiple massage therapists are available with sign-up sheets. All massage therapists have their own style, and pressure levels. I experienced deep tissue massage with Eugene, it was amazing! My friends all experienced someone different, and enjoyed unique approaches. FOOD/DRINKS: Traditionally, bathhouse (banya) is meant to be an all-day experience with a feast that is communal and celebratory. This tradition is alive and well at the Schvitz. You will be assigned a table and can eat at any time or the whole time. Your admission includes a meal with choices: angus rib steak, Schvitz burger, BBQ chicken breast, ahi tuna, salmon, vegetarian or vegan meals. Their steak was recently voted as the best and it's so tasty! One of the best I've ever had! Get the steak! Steak became part of the meals here because one of the previous owners used to be a butcher. Steak comes with veggies (peppers and potatoes). Your meal will also include bread, salad, pickled veggies platter (lightly pickled pickles are so delicious)! You can also have add-ons, herring with sour cream ($15) really satisfied us! There will be A LOT of food included but you can bring even more food! My group brought hummus, cheese, side salads (like potato), and dessert. Others brought charcuterie boards and fruit. Expect to go home with LOTS OF FOOD! All food at the Schvitz is exceptional. I'm a tough critic but I really mean it! Cooler with drinks is available including seltzers, beer, and N/A beverages. You can BYOB. SERVICE: The service at the Schvitz is truly exceptional. I practically live at spas and saunas, haven't experienced service as good anywhere else. All staff were courteous, professional, friendly, and attentive. We felt like VIP guests, a shared feeling in the space. I loved talking to the owners Billy and Michelle about Schvitz's history. MERCH: Check out Schvitz merch - tees, hoodies, robes, hats, cigars. You can also buy a book "Sweaty Stories from the Cleveland Schvitz." It's a must read before you go! It contains history, anecdotes, and makes you deeply appreciate the space. WHAT TO BRING: Very few things - robe (for communal space) and flip flops. Everything else is in abundance, but you can BYOB, bring food, and cigars. I was very impressed with Cleveland Schvitz. Everything was amazing - service, food, steam, community, and history. I'm very grateful to all staff for making us feel like part of the family. It's a deeply relaxing experience, a must visit! Get to the Schvitz! I'll be back very soon!

Such an amazing, relaxing day! Starts at noon, goes til about 5 or so on Ladies Day and Co-ed days…read more Sauna, cold plunge, showers, towels, delicious steak dinner (or fish or vegetarian) for one all inclusive price! Can add on 30 min massage and/or Platza for extra charge. BYOB so enjoy your own wine, booze, or beers, as well as whatever snacks you want to bring! Theres also nonalcoholic beverages available and some beer and hard seltzer choices too, included in your price! The sauna is perfect! Depending on where you sit will determine how hot you get, closer to the floor is cooler, closer to the ceiling is hotter. The Platza is a great add on in the sauna. The guy who does it is cute! My massage was also great! Both add on options have a sign up sheet to book, and just bring cash and tip for the services! The dinner is absolutely delicious! The dressing for the salad is so delish, the warm crusty bread is hearty and tasty, and the steak dinner!!! Best in Cleveland!! Steak is coated in garlic and perfectly cooked to temperature! The service is phenomenal and the day at the Schvitz is everything you could hope for!!! Be sure to tip when you are checking in, all the staff splits it and everyone takes such good care of you. Don't worry about the area, there is a parking lot attendant and the building itself is very secure. Enjoy!!!! ***Don't wear your smartwatch in the sauna. I broke my Apple Watch, I think it became overheated ***

Life Time Fitness is a huge lifestyle gym and health center in Beachwood. It can't even be compared…read moreto any local gym, it's far superior. During my initial visit my tour guide referred to it being like a county club. Right on - upscale and relaxing vacay vibes. I have only remained a member for a few months due to life events and health circumstances. I was always very enthusiastic about visiting Life Time! AMENITIES: The club is very clean and every part of the experience is well designed. Everything you need is there. For instance, you'll get all toiletries and towels for your shower or sauna visits. The club well serves a variety of guest groups catering to their unique needs. Parents can use childcare service. Millennials can utilize pickleball courts. Retired folks can partake in a fun Arora aquatic program. There are numerous amenities: full salon, cafe, co-working cafe, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, pickleball courts, rock climbing, Pilates studio, personal training, yoga studio, chiropractor, cold plunge, outdoor bar, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, workout area, cryo, and a lot more. You almost need a lifetime to explore them all! It was an immediate "yes" for me in terms of joining. The gym is very spacious, you never feel constrained at any times of the day. My favorite amenities are the outdoor pool and Club Lounge (co-working space). The outdoor pool is Olympic size pool with comfy lounge chairs and lounges. There is zero entry part and swimming lanes. Robust Arora program (open to any ages) offers fun water aerobics activities. The classes are so high energy! The pool was even open into October this year. Loved the pool! Co-working space offered me a lot of flexibility working from the gym and taking a break to enjoy the amenities. The internet speed is excellent! CLASSES: Classes can be conveniently accessed via Life Time mobile application. Sign-up is easy. Timings are suitable for various schedules. EVENTS: Life Time hosts plenty of events for members creating a communal feel - karaoke, swim nights, and even tequila tasting. Some feature a DJ and cool decor. While most events are free, you'll pay for drinks. PRICING: Prices match the amenities. I paid almost $200 per month for a single membership. Not everything is included in your membership (Pilates for instance), but most things are. You get some discounts (such as the salon, the cafe, and personal training) during your first month. It's definitely a pricey investment but also self-investment. CANCELLATIONS: Membership cancellation is very easy. I was able to cancel my membership via the app. I was sad to cancel my membership but life is lifing. You also have an option to pause your membership and partake in online workouts. DOWNSIDES: To be honest in my review, few issues exist at Life Time: - Concierges are not always pleasant. I had this experience, my guest did, and other members mentioned it to me too. The service is very dismissive. You will constantly get referred to the app, attentiveness is rarely a thing. - Cafe prices are outrageous and far higher than at any other health cafes. I recently paid over $40 for a power bowl (Shoyu-Sesame), protein balls, and a smoothie (Açaí Bliss). It's convenient to have a cafe onsite, but prices are wild for the portions and mediocre quality. - Open hours for the amenities are ever changing and unclear. It's hard to figure out when the pools are open or when cafe outdoors is available. Employees I've asked about the open hours were equally puzzled. This doesn't well serve busy individuals with demanding schedules and need to pre-plan. - The parking lot is very dim at night. While the area feels extremely safe, it's still not the best time in the evening. - Onboarding process is rather chaotic. I found myself asking basic questions about creating a pass card, locker use, open hours, and sign-up processes. I was constantly referred to the app which didn't have most of these answers. Overall, I truly enjoyed the amenities at Life Time. I will definitely rejoin when my personal circumstances change. I highly recommend dropping in for a day pass to experience Life Time or formally joining. You won't find a better gym around!

PHOTOS attached below…read more I visited for a yoga class in January 2021. A former co-worker who teaches yoga classes there, she may not teach there anymore since the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, invited me to take her yoga class so the class was free for me. I believe the gym offers a free week trial of classes or just one free class for prospective new members. YOGA -- I attended a vinyasa flow yoga class and I can't remember the specific name of the class but it was in-between a beginner's class and an intermediate class. I enjoyed the class because the instructor (Elizabeth) gave good directions/cues between movements. We did the typic upward and downward faving dog poses GYM -- The gym is HUGE and has a lot of weight machines to use plus dumbbells, bikes, and treadmills. You can get all your strength and cardio needs at this gym. I think they have a pool too. CAFE -- The small cafe is a convenient option to grab a quick bite post-workout. They sell smoothies, sandwiches, snacks, etc. After the yoga class, I ordered a small breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon and it tasted good. It wasn't too salty and it was just a typical breakfast sandwich. I also ordered a bottled SUJA green juice which was refreshing. I won't join this gym because it's too far from where I live but if you live on the east side of Cleveland then this gym is a good option. **** - 36/150 total reviews in 2023 - 587 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 19 March 2023

I would have give 5+ stars for the facial and the girls who did it …read more.. I took advantage of a special offer for a facial and the procedure itself was really nice, the girls who did it were super sweet and did a great job, so in my mind I had already planned to come back while still there, and then, after the procedure, the "pusher" (this guy who acted like some skin expert, but was more like the guy in some shady car dealership in his sales "technique") came - never ever have I felt so pushed into purchasing more and signing up for a membership, and when he eventually, after trying and trying, realized he can't work me he said "Well, you either want to be healthy and look it or not" ... He kind of ruined the experience for me, I was sooo relaxed until he started his sales show, so I certainly won't go back & and won't tell all my friends like he asked me too. He tried to sell me a somewhere around $4500 device for the skin, and when I said that that was a bit too much for me to make a spontaneous purchase he said pretty snobby "Oh, that's a lot of money for you?" ... Maybe you guys should just let those wonderful girls do the job AND the talking ...
