Dr. Pak Yoon Suk has been my physician for several years now and he's great. Being that he's not that much older than me and 1.5 generation Korean, he understands my needs and physical issues. No nonsense, direct, and to the point. He also has the same Korean name as me. Coincidence? I think not :) He has twin older brothers (both work in the same office) and one of them (Dr. Pak Jae Soo) treated my Father many years back and still treats my Mother to this day. We like to keep it all in the family, Gangnam Style. The 3 doctors pretty much own Cerritos and the neighboring area when it concerns healthcare for elderly Koreans. When I visit, I'm always the youngest one there. Whether it's my annual blood test and physical, an infection, acid reflux, colonoscopy, common flu, or if he needs to refer me to a specialist, I feel safe coming here. He gives me good advice to live healthy and safe. The front desk manager (Esther) is super efficient and gets me appointments relatively quick and sometimes even same day appointments, as long as I wait for a bit. The nurses in the back are really nice and accomodating. They get me samples when I need it and always treat me with respect. As we're young, we forget that we're not invincible and that the decisions we make now can have serious repercussions later in life. So these days, I try to think healthy and about preventive care, before something bad happens.

Once I checked in with the first receptionist then I was go to the window next to her and reshow the paper. Not sure what that step was for. Therr was a table set up tp the side for 'pediatrics" but when they didn't have children checking in, they took adult patients. Same thing there - check in with one person then go to the next person & hand the paper you completed (mybhusband went to that table so he told me). After the two step check in, we went to the room immediately next to it & received our flu shots. They gave us a swag bag with a plastic bowl (with measuring marks inside - so maybe for people with diabetes to meaure the food?) & heart-shaped pill boxes. There were tables with little snacks, smoothies (a staff was making the smoothie in a blender & pouring it into cups), etc. It was too crowded so we just walked past all the tables and went to get the shaved ice outside but they said they just closed at 12:30 - no sign anywhere indicating the shaved ice will close at that time. We were a bit disappointed as it was hot & the shaved ice would've been nice to have but oh well. It's nice kaiser puts effort into getting everyone vaccinated & stay healthy. I will go back in a few weeks for covid vaccine. I didnt want to get two vaccines in one day. I'm happy with kaiser as my insurance.

Instead, we were spoken to in a confrontational and argumentative manner, being told that because a visit took place, payment was required. It is deeply frustrating to go to a medical facility, pay for care, and then be left dealing with mistakes, poor communication, and an unpleasant attitude. Medical offices should take responsibility for their errors and treat patients with basic respect. I am leaving this review so others can avoid the same upsetting and uncomfortable experience.

From the beginning, the appointment felt rushed. He asked very few questions about my symptoms or medical history and didn't seem interested in understanding why I was there. Instead of having a conversation, he appeared eager to move on to the next patient. The most concerning part of the visit was when I brought up a medication that another physician had already discussed prescribing for me. He repeatedly stated that it was "only for men" and that it's not part of his practice to prescribe it to women. He did not explain why, or even discuss the evidence, or offer any alternative treatment options. After I asked for clarity since he seemed to have his mind made up before even a real discussion and told me to drink water? I left feeling dismissed rather than cared for. At one point, he even had to Google the condition or medication we were discussing, which did not inspire confidence. Rather than helping me find a covered treatment through Kaiser, his only suggestion was to look into a cosmetic treatment that would be an out-of-pocket expense. What bothered me most was that I never felt heard. He didn't ask follow-up questions, didn't explore my concerns, and didn't take the time to understand my health history. Now I have to schedule another appointment with a different physician and start the entire process over again. Every patient deserves to feel listened to and included in decisions about their care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I left feeling discouraged and unsupported. This has not been my experience with other physicians at this location but I think it's important as a woman to know that maybe this dr. Based on my experiences, I believe management should take a closer look at how certain staff members are interacting with patients and consider additional training, particularly regarding professionalism, communication, and treating every patient respectfully and fairly. My first concern involved Khanh and Justin when I came in for a TB test reading. My PA had instructed me to have the medical assistants read it. I stood there waiting while Khanh and Justin were talking. When I asked if they could read my test, Khanh responded with what I felt was an unnecessary attitude and told me I should have asked my PA while I was speaking with her. She then acted as though she was occupied and began assisting Justin with a task that appeared to already be manageable with one person. I left feeling dismissed and uncomfortable. At another appointment, I brought my younger sibling with me. Rocio made an issue out of not receiving the email containing the note from my parent giving permission for me to be in the room. She then came in rushing to put on her work T-shirt and began trying to assist Aiuna, even though Aiuna appeared to already have the situation handled and there was simply a minor technical delay. I also overheard other staff members telling Rocio to let the situation go. Again, I left feeling that the interaction had been unnecessarily escalated. Most recently, I had an office visit where I was assisted by Wendy. From the moment I walked in, I felt that her communication and approach toward me were unnecessarily aggressive. I had simply walked over to a chair to put down my belongings when she immediately told me, "Over here," in what I perceived as a condescending tone while directing me to the scale. I responded that I needed a minute. From there, I felt that her attitude toward me changed. The blood pressure cuff was applied in a way that felt rough, and when it was removed, it was done abruptly. I asked for her name, and she identified herself as Wendy. After walking me to my room, she closed the door with enough force that it felt like she slammed it. These experiences have been extremely disappointing, especially because I have been coming to this office for so many years and have previously had a positive impression of the practice. I understand that healthcare workers deal with stress and challenging situations every day. However, patients are also coming into these offices with their own health concerns, anxieties, and difficult circumstances. Professionalism, patience, and respectful communication should still be a priority. I cannot speak to anyone else's intentions, but based on my experiences, some of these interactions have left me concerned about whether I was being treated differently or unfairly. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, reviews these interactions, and makes sure patients are consistently treated with dignity and respect. This is particularly disappointing to me because I am someone who is genuinely interested in entering the medical field myself. I would hope that healthcare environments demonstrate the compassion, professionalism, and patient-centered care that I aspire to provide in the future.
