Good Faith Energy - Tesla Solar Roof

    Good Faith Energy

Start to finish GFE handled this project seamlessly such that I felt no anxiety during the process…read more The installation came in way under the projected timeline and even with Houston weather issues plaguing its completion - all worked out perfectly

I don't normally write reviews, and Good Faith Energy did not ask me to write this review, but I've…read morehad such good experiences with this company that I had to express my praise for Good Faith Energy. I first contacted Good Faith Energy to help with solar planning for an all-electric house build I was building in Dallas, TX. While the house was still in the pre-drywall phase, I wanted to make sure that anything that could be added in the construction phase to help with solar installation later was done. Good Faith Energy helped me out, and for a nominal fee, they designed an electrical plan and coordinated with the builder on what components would make installation easier in the future. My original plan was to build the house and live in the house for a year to figure out my electricity needs, and then design a solar system around my usage. However, after moving in in early 2025, I decided to proceed with solar installation given my fear that the solar tax credit would be going away soon. I explored several solar companies, but ultimately picked Good Faith Energy. They were familiar with the products I was interested in (REC solar panels, SPAN panels, and Tesla Powerwall 3). They are very involved with the community and post very insightful videos on YouTube. You can tell that their owner and all of the employees are passionate about what they sell and install, and truly care about selecting the right solar system for you. My sales associate with Sammy, who was happy to provide different quotes, and he offered me very good suggestions about things I hadn't thought of. Joe was the engineer that worked on the plans, and he was also incredibly helpful and patient with me. He understood my desire to maximize the number of panels on my roof space, and tried out different ways with the design to maximize solar production. Samantha and Amanda were excellent project managers, who kept me informed throughout the entire project. My install was a bit more complicated than a typical residential system. My house is all-electric, and I have a 320 amp service powering two 200 amp panels. As a result, I ultimately went with a 28.5 kW REC solar panel system powering two separate sets of Tesla Powerwall 3 (5 total). Special shoutout to our electrician Ronnie and the site manager Shane, along with the rest of the Good Faith Energy install team, who battled some of the hottest days this summer to install the project on time. Their attention to detail was impressive, and the result is a very clean install. I live in a conservation district in Dallas, and as a result, I needed approval from the conservation district as well as from the City of Dallas. It took several months to get a permit, but Good Faith Energy had experience with this and knew how to handle it. There was one minor rough patch. We scheduled a city inspection two weeks ahead of schedule, but Good Faith Energy wasn't there where the city inspector came, which generated an immediate red-tag. However, this was ironed out by the next week, and we received a green tag after just one inspection the following week. Since the install, I've had a couple minor issues with the system, but Good Faith Energy was quick to respond and resolve the issues. I have been left with a feeling that this company stands behind their project. In the end, for such a complex and expensive project, I have had an extremely positive experience working with Good Faith Energy, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solar install in DFW.

    Energy Attic - Blue Ducts!

    Energy Attic

Chances are if you live in an older home not built up to today's building codes, and even if you…read moredo, the insulation & ventilation in your attic may not be up to par with the current standards. My home was built in the late '70s, and the previous homeowners did nothing to rid the home of its original rockwhool insulation. The minuscule 6-8" of insulation that was once in my attic was ridden with rodent feces/urine, turning to dust, and wasn't as effective as it once was. This not only caused my home to have imbalanced heating/cooling, but also strained my HVAC system, making it work significantly harder than it otherwise would. Combine the lack of insulation with improper ventilation, and you set yourself up for a home that's not comfortable to live in, while in the process of taking precious dollars away from your pocket, all due to increased electric/gas bills. I called Energy Attic back in 2019 to see what they had to say about my attic, and they came out to do an energy audit. They filled me in on everything that was wrong, and what I could do to fix it. The estimate they provided was very insightful, breaking down the cost of every service, and allowing you as a homeowner to do what's best for your house and pocketbook. At the time I was unable to afford the job, so I decided to hold off on the project. Fast forward to early 2022, I gave them yet another call, and due to a mishap in getting the square footage of my home incorrect (was overestimated due to some vaulted ceilings), we decided to have them come back out to my house to give things a look. I spoke with their sales representative Mike for a decent amount of time, making sure I understood what was best. Mike's insight was incredibly valuable, and I ended up going with a whole host of things to improve my attic space: - Removing all old insulation - Sealing any air gaps - Spraying in fiberglass insulation to R49 (16") - Installing a radiant barrier - Upgrading existing fan with a solar fan Energy Attic ended up scheduling the job for the next week, and three of their employees ended up working for nine hours, knocking everything out of the park the same day. I've had a lot of contractors & such work on my home, and these gentlemen treated my home with dignity, cleaning up after themselves, and ensuring the job is done perfectly. Almost immediately I was able to notice the consistency in temperature throughout the home, and not just that, but also my HVAC system kicking on less. I'm stoked that the days of dealing with certain rooms being colder/hotter than others are gone, and my attic space can properly reflect any heat thrown at it away with the radiant barrier, and push any heat out that did get in with the solar fan, regardless of wind conditions outside. While a job like this is costly, making your home comfortable to live in year-round is very much worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Energy Attic for any of your attic or HVAC needs. I'm pleased with what they have done, and I can't lie, my attic space sure does look better than ever!

I should go edit my Google review. I'm very irritated and…read moreeven after days of giving myself to calm down, I'm still angry. I know for a fact that I asked if the quote and payment we gave for attic insulation, included over the garage. I was told yes, and I know I asked at least three times, and was told yes. The two other people in the home, heard it as well. The over the garage was not insulated. Now I understand, that I should have checked before I left the other review. That's on me. I shouldn't have taken anyone else's word, and I should have gotten the ladder and looked. When I texted the man who came here, I was told yes "no, it only includes over living space". The insulation over the living space is nicely done. I am very pleased with that. Just very irritated that, what I was told was going to happen, and included, turns out it's not.

Longhorn Solar - Another $1,000 referral check!!

Solar as an industry needs to mature. Too much profit chasing and not enough service for the cost…read more I wanted to believe that Longhorn Solar was different but kept running into problems. Planning and communication needs work. I never knew when the work was to be done until the night before. The wrong parts or lack of parts on the first install date was a bad sign. Then the second install date and still not able to operate on solar until 2 weeks later - yet they want their payment right away. The worst was when I lost power to the house after the transfer box was installed. This was on a Friday afternoon. I called to ask for help but had to send an email for support. Support said it wasn't their issue, but it was, a bad breaker. I had to find and pay for my own electrician to fix it. I was reimbursed but that didn't excuse the lack of support. The 24-hour support team finally responded back to me 5 days later after I sent the video of the bad breaker arcing. I could go on but I think you get the idea. There are some good people there but as a company, it's just not the quality and service expected for the price paid. Value is directly related to the price vs quality mentioned.

I STRONGLY ADVISE NOT CONTRACTING WITH LONGHORN SOLAR…read more I had Longhorn install solar panels on flat roof. Mechanically sound but resulted in recurrent roof leaks for a year. I finally had my solar panels removed and roof replaced due to hail damage. This was a commercial roofer that has experience with flat roof. Solar panels reinstalled correctly but cost $7000 out of my pocket.
