I don't recall even noticing this place on that trip. This time around, the construction has passed, and the place is easily accessible. It is a nice breakfast spot, with a variety of seating options. Wait staff were attentive and prompt. Overall good service, not too overbearing. The menu is divided into sections based on diets, such as keto, vegan, etc. I found the l'oncle Keto, meaning uncle keto. It's a variation on eggs Benedict, with lots of meat, and the muffin replaced by slices of tomato and avocado, and it has some brie and Emmental cheese, bacon, and mushrooms. The concept actually works pretty well, and it was a tasty breakfast to start the day. The coffee is good also.

Little relaxing background music that was quite relaxing and not much people so feels good to peacefully eat your breakfast in a quiet place

The smoked meat was pastrami and the sandwiches were good. The soup was flavorful, but the gravy on the poutine was not very flavorful. Near the Mont Royal metro stop and near vintage shops on Rue Saint-Denis.

The buckwheat crepes with maple syrup were sublime as well. The service was even better than the food. The owner and his son both spent time serving us, and were so welcoming and made us feel at home. The French phases I'd memorized were unnessary, as they greeted us in English (I guess we look American). When they found out it was our first visit to Montreal, they had many recommendations for us. I can't imagine a better way to start the day in a truly amazing city than here with a tradional Quebecois breakfast. I cannot recommend this institution enough! Merci beaucoup!

Place was busy too for a weekday afternoon, with bikers stopping in for a quick bite. I don't ride bikes, I drink coffee..and that's why I decided to stop in! Besides the array of baked goods, sandwiches and salads, there was one item that really ci-haut my eye; they have a lavender latte??! What?! I grabbed a tall lavender coffee with almond milk for 5.50$ and sat on the little patio upfront to enjoy my java. The scent of lavender was intense upon my first sip but I quickly got accustomed to the odd flavour and thoroughly enjoyed my cup of joe; the espresso was not very acidic and the almond milk was perfectly sweet, so overall, this coffee was perfectly balanced! Maybe it was the lavender or maybe it was the summer like weather, but I felt totally zen and content. The price may be a little higher then other shops in the corner who offer better coffee but the scenic view and odd lavender coffee has intrigued me enough to return for the spiced latte...stay tuned.

I've tried their salads a couple of times for lunch…read more The offering was original: I had the Marseille salad with burghul (for some reason referred to as tabbouleh) and salmon, which was decent and had a nice dressing that went with it. I've wanted to try their sandwiches, but never made it past the skepticism infused by the glutenness this involves. Marius has an open-air terrace on St Catherine, which makes it a fun place for people watching on that pedestrian section of the busy street. I was also pleasantly surprised with how the neighbourhood evolved since last time I went to the former red light district. I would go back (and have gone back)

Seriously, Yelp needs to up its game in Québec, because places like this one aren't getting the attention they deserve. The pulled pork sandwich had a generous amount of meat. The 12-hour smoking process did indeed liberate a good amount of smoky aroma and make the pork somewhat tender. It's lighter on the sauce and heavier on the smoke than any other pulled pork I tried which gave a more authentic impression. Amazing coleslaw - wished I had more. Fries are the soft kind, very lightly salted. The "spicy" mayo (some kind of very salty habanero with hot sauce) was not that good. Being a smokehouse it's obviously not cheap. The pulled pork sandwich with fries was a good value at $20 + tip. A pint of Fin du Monde $10 + tip. Steaks are in the $30+ range but seeing the impressive meat ageing cabinet by the entrance, I might go back to try one. If you're passing by Chambly and are in the mood for smoky meat, this is the place to be. For parking, there's a lot on rue Ostiguy across from Bedondaine & Bedons Ronds (also a place to check out).

The kitchen was a tad slow, but that just gave us more time to enjoy the ambience. Go after sunset and the patio trees will be illuminated. Lovely. The crowd is pleasant and not too noisy. The prices are reasonable (C$75 incl. tip for two diners). Flavors are sumptuous, better even than anything we tried in Montreal today. I particularly recommend "le croque monsieur" and the Nutella crêpe. The calamari and my wife's salmon filet were also great. The beer is fresh and whiskeys are plentiful. The menu isn't quite as diverse as we expected for a "gastropub," but everything we had was still delicious. Seriously considering a return visit before we leave town in a few days. Definitely recommend.
