She was so sweet and answered all of our questions regarding this unique process. We left our girl in her care and we got her back less than two weeks later without complications. The process is not too expensive and seriously, for what you get and the care your loved one receives, the cost is not bad. My first pet and favorite little hamster, Sonic, passed away in November 2024, while I was away on business. As soon as I landed back in Seattle, I made a call to Resting Waters, and they made an appointment for me the same day in the evening. Throughout, the staff were kind, caring, and very understanding of what we were going through. When we arrived at Resting Waters, we were given an hour long appointment, and shown to a seating area/room where we could lay our beloved Sonic on a pet bed at the front of the room and hold a small funeral. I didn't expect for them to provide a space to grieve, but this was incredibly thoughtful and we used up most of the hour to talk about him and share our memories before saying goodbye for the last time. You don't need to use the entire hour to fill the forms, so most of the time can be spent celebrating your pet's life. The forms allow you to select the type of cremation, the urn, and additional keepsakes such as ink and/or clay paw prints (we chose both). Because he was so small, we were very worried about whether his ashes would get stuck to the urn and be difficult to scatter, so they offered an additional urn option (small glass jar) that was not available on the paperwork. We had him back the following week, as well as the additional keepsakes we ordered. It was hard to trust someone with guiding our little mouse to the afterlife, and I was really nervous the whole time. Resting waters is located in West Seattle, and even though we live in Kirkland, this is the only place I will bring my pet when they cross the rainbow bridge. We were out of town when our cat passed away, and we were so distraught that we couldn't be there. Our friend brought her here to Resting Waters since they could keep her refrigerated until we could get home to see her. When we came to see her, they did such a nice job of placing her in a basket for us to spend some time with her body. They had flowers and candles and lots of tissues. I really needed the tissues. After we said our goodbyes, they did the aquamation, which is a process where they use water to cremate the body and prepare the ashes. When we picked up her remains, they had a nice clay pawprint, a vial of her hair, and paperwork certifying her aquamation. The people were so kind and generous of heart, and we really felt comforted that they cared about us and our kitty. I didn't know what aquamation was prior to this. They even had an area where we could have a small funeral. My wife and kids really appreciated that. But with all they offer you can tell they truly care about their clients and their pets, and are not trying to rip you off. I wish all places had this level of compassion and empathy. if i can offer any suggestion to someone who knows they are about to lose a pet, it would be to reach out to resting waters ahead of time. i called to get some information and didn't know if i'd need to make an appt or if it was possible to do it over the phone but from my first interaction with kale, i knew this was the right decision and i knew i had found someone i wanted to care for my dog once he had passed. kale is incredibly gifted in terms of compassion and patience when it comes to death care. this was not my first time losing a beloved animal but i had chosen traditional cremation the other times and because of logistics and a changing mindset this time around, i gravitated towards using resting waters. i took my dog, xochi, to meet kale while he was still alive. it was very special for all of us. and i chose to pay ahead of time so all of the paperwork and payment were done and i had nothing to do when the time came but be with my emotions. kale came to pick up at my house (free transport in west seattle) and was beyond loving and respectful of my dog and my loss as i helped him to load xochi into the car. he asked me if i wanted to know when xochi's aquamation process would start (and explained some people want that information and others don't) but i appreciated the thoughtfulness of asking what my preference was. about a week later when i was informed xochi's remains were ready to come home, i decided it was important to me to pick them up when kale was working because i wanted to be able to show my gratitude again for the depth of understanding and compassion i received. i had requested the remains not be pulverized and they are much more "intact" and coarser than traditional cremains but it's ultimately individual choice. i cannot recommend resting waters enough. the services they provide and the quality of care i received show how invested this family run business is in terms of honoring our loved ones from the animal kingdom. i'm of the opinion that i am especially lucky to have worked with kale although i am sure anyone from resting waters who helps you would be equally as understanding and patient as you navigate an animal loss. it's never going to be easy but we are truly fortunate to have resting waters to lean on as we say goodbye and start the grieving process. read more

My sweet cat son died unexpectedly on a recent evening. An internet search led me to Resting Waters and I contacted through Yelp. Not hearing anything by the next morning, I decided to call them directly and was able to make an appointment for the next day (they did respond to my Yelp inquiry later in the day). The next day, I waited outside in the small courtyard in the back until it was my time, then walked in. The door opens to the funeral stage, set up for viewing where you can say your goodbyes. From there, a young lady took my cat's body and prepared him while I filled out a form and looked at a catalog to select a vessel for his remains. The atmosphere was respectful and the space was peaceful and clean. She placed my cat in a small bed, along with his favorite toy that I'd brought, and left me to grieve privately. I walked over to the counter when I was ready and was told his remains would be ready for pickup in about a week. Their call came less than a week later. You drive up to the front, park in the designated area, call to announce your arrival, and what looks like a boutique bag is brought out to you straight away. The bag includes your pet's remains in the vessel you've chosen, a certificate of aquamation, a sympathy card and the numbered token that was used for identification. Also included is a packet of herbs, featuring the same scents used to annoint your pet before aquamation, that you can burn in a private ceremony at home. I am so grateful to Resting Waters for fitting me in so quickly. That long, sad, lonely drive to the Kent crematorium is a thing of the past, now that I know about Resting Waters. Although it will take a long time to overcome the grief of losing my boy, Resting Waters is a class act and am grateful they helped my cat cross softly over to the Rainbow Bridge. read more

I'd seriously give this place 100 stars if I could. Here are the things I LOVE about Resting Waters: 1. The concept: A respectful, calming, caring, funeral home for pets that doesn't FEEL like a funeral home, but more like a yoga studio. Modern, comfortable, respectful, and zen. To have a place to get closure and say goodbye to your fur-baby is nothing short of special. Not having to live with regrets of feeling like he wasn't treated right or that we didn't get to say goodbye properly is invaluable; living with that regret is a horrible feeling that never really goes away, and for selfish reasons, I'm so glad I don't have to live with that. I attribute that entirely to Resting Waters. Also, aquamation. It felt so much more natural and purer than cremation. I realize this sounds cliche, but it seemed like our pup was entering back into the circle of life as opposed to burning up after it was over. Grim, I know. But also true. 2. The service: Joslin and Darci are just the bee's knees. I don't know how else do describe how wonderful they are; using words like "amazing" and "incredible" doesn't seem to do them justice. They were caring, attentive, helpful, empathetic, supportive, professional, respectful, and present. Everything you'd hope for in someone helping you put your loved one to rest. 3. The presentation: We got to choose a beautiful, non-stereotypical-looking urn for our pup that we will cherish forever. Once aquamated, we were presented with the urn containing our pup's remains with a custom metal tag attached, a gorgeous white mold of our pup's paw print and name written underneath, a Certificate of Aquamation, and a small pretty glass jar containing fur clippings. Everything was so high quality. I (half) jokingly told my mom that I wanted to be aquamated at Resting Waters when I die. Let me tell you, I've had several people pass away in my life and this is by far the most beautiful way I've seen this process go. 4. The care: The level of customer service is impeccable. They were available when we needed them (which, especially during COVID, is a BIG deal) and we knew we could trust them with our beloved 18.5-year-old puppy. I kid you not when I say our dog was like a third child alongside my brother and me. We got him when I was 10 years old, so I've had him for most of my life. To see him go was earth-shattering for my family so being able to trust someone to take care of him meant the entire world. I truly don't know what we would've done without them. Needless to say, I think immensely highly of Resting Waters. I now have two dogs of my own, and wherever in the world I end up by the time they pass I am FOR SURE making my way to West Seattle to have them taken care of by Joslin and Darci. This is the kind of place you never want to need, but alas, are glad they are there when you need it. Our sweet girl received a cancer diagnosis that had little hope. I reached out to Resting Waters in preparation to know that her time would come within weeks to months and wanted to make sure they'd be able to take her and when the time came, I knew what to expect with them. Our girl let us know she was ready on one of the really snowy days this past winter. Being north of Seattle by 20 minutes and going through the trauma, I knew I probably wouldn't be able to drive her body there and if I did, I probably wouldn't be able to let it go. They made the process super easy for us and came and got her even in the horrible conditions. They also took her in her favorite blanket which gave me a little comfort knowing her body was with it. She was ready for us quicker than we thought she'd be, and they were so kind in giving us her ashes and others trinkets (paw imprints, fur clippings). They also took beautiful photos of Mercy looking at peace with beautiful flowers surrounding her. I haven't been able to look at them since, but I'm so happy to know that some day I'll be able to have and cherish them and see her body at final peace. We are so happy Resting Waters was able to take care of our beautiful girl and hope you don't ever need them, but know they are there if you do. First of all, water cremation = aquamation. Who knew such a thing existed?! I'd heard of cremation before, but never this. It's taken me a few months to write this review... I'd never lost a pet before... and I'd been a dog mama of two for 11 years. So you can imagine my confusion when it came time to think about the end of life process for my Kai, 15 year old papillon mix. He was my first ever dog. In November 2019, we unexpectedly lost him while I was away on international travel. My significant other, Scott, found Resting Waters for me and everything about it felt RIGHT. First, it's way better for the environment (I didn't know cremation was bad in the first place). Secondly, it's located in West Seattle... when i first moved here with Kai and Koa, we lived in Alki... so this felt meant to be. I wasn't there during Kai's passing, but got lots of facetime "i-love-you's" in... but i don't know what I would've done without Scott or Resting Waters. They were so incredibly sensitive and empathetic... I couldn't imagine a better place. The pricing (at least for small dogs) is also quite comparable to traditional cremation. This was a relief as it wasn'ts omething we were expecting to have to pay (I honestly believed my Kai Kai would live until 19). He was so energetic and spry up until his final days. Scott brought Kai to Resting Waters the day after he passed away peacefully... the lady said he had a full hour to say goodbye. They have soft fluffy beds for customers to put their pets on. I was there for the pickup of his "aftercare" - the lady who left a voicemail used those words and her voice was so soothing :'). She was so kind upon pickup. Everything is by appointment only to ensure privacy and enough time to say goodbye. Scott surprised me with an imprint of Kai's paws, and included with each aquamation are the fur clippings (surprisingly packaged beautifully in a glass jar with a cork), ink paw prints, and a biodegradable urn (i expected a vase looking thing, but it looks like a tea canister). We're still not ready to spread his ashes, so he has a little corner on our mantle right now. I have to say... when I first saw his fur clipping, I broke down crying (and I usually don't do that). For those of you who are nearing the loss of a pet, or already lost a pet... Resting waters is an incredible place that will lovingly handle the end of life process with your pet. I'd use them again and again. And idk who needs to hear this... but they know you love them, you've done the best you can, and until we meet our loves again, they'll be playing up "there", unburdened by their physical bodies. After losing a pet very suddenly two days before Christmas, I was at a loss for what to do next. Resting Waters being available for full service during the holidays on such short notice was incredible- thank you. We were spoken to with kindness and patience by everyone there which made such a painful process a little bit easier. I am not entirely sure what happened, but an internal miscommunication, lack of communication, or incorrect assumption by an aquamation worker led to a permanent piece of my pet I requested back multiple times being aquamated with him. It was heartbreaking to learn this, but I would like to thank Kale especially for handling and communicating this to me with professionalism, sympathy, and responsibility for the mistake, as well as for his help during the final pickup. Our 16 year old Cat Komet had succumbed to kidney disease and we had a loving caring Vet (see other reviews) come to our house and put him to sleep. They were followed by the quiet respectful arrival of Joslin from Resting Waters. She came in asked if we wanted her to take her shoes off, sat next to Komet and talked quietly with us and explained everything. She asked if she could take him, wrapped him up in a baby blanket and left his face out, put him in a basket and told us we could pay for everything when we picked him up, and quietly left. We knew the time was coming for our old girl. We didn't know it would happen on a holiday. The ladies in This place are absolutely amazing. They returned my call on New Year's and got us in that evening. I was shocked at how clean and beautiful it was inside. To put this in to perspective I traveled over an hour each way and spent significantly more money because I knew resting waters were the only folks I felt comfortable with. As a funeral director myself, I had many specific questions that were answered easily and without hesitation. From the first phone call I felt like Fig was the most important dog they had ever taken care of, it was evident they truly cared. On arrival the facility smells amazing, that's weird I know, but my brain now has a good smell and sight association with saying goodbye.
