As far as I can tell this is a Portuguese restaurant owned by people from Angola (Africa) so they serve both types of cuisine. We were delighted to find they had five items on their menu for vegetarians. It is said that Portugal is a bad place to visit if you are looking for vegetarian cuisine and so far the story checks out. So we were glad to have found this place. The name refers to a place name in Angola (we were told it is the "principal city" in Angola).
My wife and I had Luanda Couscous - very nice African style couscous with vegetables. One of our other diners had a chicken dish with an excellent African peanut sauce. She also had something called popcorn flour (?) which she didn't like but I thought was pretty good with the peanut sauce. The rest of our party had fish and they liked it.
The service was good (very helpful food server who spoke good English and was the daughter of the owners), and the location and decor were great as well. We're from the USA and like most Americans we eat a little earlier than they do in Portugal, so a lot of restaurants aren't even open yet when we choose to have dinner. This one was - yay! read more
