We sat outside as weather was beautiful (though turned out too windy to enjoy al fresco dining). The waitress brought over an English menu. To our dismay, the English menu has items like hamburger, pasta, sandwiches and all the stuff, but nothing Portuguese. As we enjoy exploring local cuisines, we struggled through the Portuguese menu, with some help from google and the waitress.
We ordered a morcela assada, which is blood sausage roasted on a ceramic dish. I have to say, this is definitely one of the best morcela I've tried. The skin is crispy, the stuffing flavorful and not pasty. It was a really big sausage but I couldn't bear to waste any and gallantly finished it. The duck rice came baked, shreds of duck meat mixed in the rice. Again, nice flavor. For dessert, we had some sweet Portuguese melon and the local specialty, tortas de Azeitão.
Whether you are homesick or culinarily adventurous, this place offers good service and delicious food at a reasonable price. Although i didn't get the hamburger, so don't complain if it doesn't taste like home...
