Tonight my husband and I took a chance on this restaurant. There was a man at the entrance, who seemed to be dedicated to the space, and we were hungry, menu looked decent, so we decided to take a gamble. Keep in mind we have found DELICIOUS foods in the heart of Almedia, specifically Cruzes Credo, (they were packed tonight). We sat, and ordered drinks with very limited English or a smile from our server. He appeared to be in his 60's and disgruntled. He hovered over us as we desperately made a decision on our meal(s). My husband ordered a pork dish with clams and potatoes (aka frozen French fries). I had been longing for a salad all day, so I took a risk and ordered the tuna fish salad (baaaaad move). After we ordered, the man who seated us, strangely stared at us while we waited. At the time we were the ONLY TWO in the entire restaurant. Our food arrived and.....my husbands was not as terrible as we initially thought, but not great. My salad....do not order. I will be happy if I am not sick tomorrow. About two pieces of lettuce, and they might as well have placed the actual can of tuna on top of my two pieces of green. We thought of taking a picture but again it would not do justice.
Once we were ready to pay we kindly asked if they took cards--and were immediately told no, but then no further explanation was given other than hand motions which appeared to be like (come wash the dishes). After a few minutes, our "chef" escorted my husband outside to point out an ATM about 5 minutes away. Two alleys away, FULL OF HAPPY DINERS IN AN AMAZING DISTRICT.
He returned, we paid....and unless this staff becomes friendly and the quality of food improves, we do not recommend going back again. read more
