Hate this place. Noisy, unfriendly service and more. Haven't been in over a year though.
American style steakhouse. Food has always been good but it can be crowded on the weekends

La Cucaracha is the reason why, I grew up in Leuven and frequented this restaurant regularly. As a result I compare all Mexican I eat with this joint and often I am disappointed. The food is really good, the menu has been unchanged for a long time but like they say: never change a winning team. By the way, if you do long for some variation, you can go for their daily special. I have tried most dishes on the menu, but I typically go for Antojitos Mixos which means mixed appetizer but I eat it as a main and I can guarantee, you won't regret it: it is a flour tortilla with 10+ dishes on it. You will be filled with Mexican goodness! The service is also on great: you can feel the warmth of the people serving you, they are helpful, friendly and polite. The only minor downside is that it is always packed so they are often super busy and it is sometimes difficult to grab their attention (also make sure you get a reservation!). After leaving Leuven, I still long for the great food and service. It is more than a nostalgic feeling, every time I go back the food manages to convince me that La Cucaracha is a great eat. Highly recommended.

This place is over-rated on Yelp! We have yet to find a…read moregreat Mexican restaurant in Düsseldorf. We started with the guacamole and chips. The guac was actually not bad and made fresh. It could have used some diced tomatoes and jalapeño though. It was the best item the restaurant has to offer. The chips were lacking flavor. I ordered a chicken burrito. It was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce. It had some chicken, peppers and a few pieces of corn and pinto beans. Very ordinary but edible. My wife ordered tacos. Four of the smallest tacos I have seen were smothered with diced onions. She was also less than impressed. Casita Mexicana is just another average restaurant that tries their best, but just serves the typical "Euro-Mex" food. It just isn't the same as good Mexican food from the Southwestern U.S. (Or Mexico, of course). There were only two other couples in the restaurant, yet the girl sat us in the back, right next to the toilet. Didn't realize it until I was eating and started smelling it. Poor decision by the staff.

When we arrived at the restaurant I liked the style immediately. It wasn't over the top with cheesy decor, but subtle and thoughtful. It was busy when we arrived as it was prime time on a Friday night, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. I had the Mexican Mojito, which replaced the rum in the standard drink with tequila. It was strong and delightful. I may have had two, they were so good I don't remember. I also had some of their house margarita and it was also a solid well-made drink. I didn't have a full meal here, but did try a few of their appetizers. I tried the guacamole which was flavorful, though a little too smooth as if blended. I also had the tortilla soup which was definitely a hit. Next time I'm craving Mexican food, or something close enough to it, I'll be sure to give Pssst Amigo another shot.

Kua Mexican Kitchen is an authentic Mexican restaurant that prides itself on having traditional…read moredishes which are "truly" Mexican as opposed to the popular Tex-Mex style that dominates Mexican restaurants nowadays. Right off the bat, I would recommend Kua mainly because of the fact that it is one of the few Mexican restaurants in The Hague, plus it is the only restaurant (that I know of) that serves traditional dishes (the rest are Tex-Mex). So if you're used to Tex-Mex, I would highly recommend to go to Kua and try the traditional style Mexican food, as it is totally worth it. As for the service, the waiters are friendly. No negatives there. Despite my positivity about this establishment, there are some negatives. Firstly, the dishes are quite small. This is a shame because it's not advertised as a small plate/sharing type place. Secondly, the restaurant itself is also small, meaning that there isn't much space available, which leads me to my third negative point, you 100% need a reservation. Since the restaurant is small and good, it's quite popular. This means that it's always full and it'll be hard to get a table without having a reservation. Overall, I would recommend Kua mainly because of it's authenticity and the quality of the food. It may not be the best Mexican food ever, but The Netherlands isn't known for it's Mexican cuisine, meaning that Kua is the best restaurant available.

We sat in front of the restaurant and admired the architecture of the catedral of saint Bavo, it's a popular spot amongst the locals, the drinks are fantastic. The presentation of food is very appealing but not quite what you would get in Mexico, perhaps due to the price of importing the true spices of Mexico. The wait staff was fun, and I was amazed they spoke 5 languages Dutch, German, French, English and Spanish. Beautiful place wonderful staff. Haarlem definitely has a special place in my corazón!
