We had questions about some of the offerings and she answered all of those. It began with a rocky start with getting a table near the door way (small space) since they had other tables all reserved. Nonetheless, we decided to stay since we traveled about 25-30 mins from downtown Amsterdam to Amstelveenseweg(where this restaurant is located). Glad we stayed and had a great dining experience. Note to others- get reservation before dining. The menu was unique with burgers, sushi choices, entrees etc. We ordered a burger and spicy tuna roll. Both items were great. At the ended we enjoyed the warm lava cake. ~

Very weird experience. Either they had a big off-day, or the restaurant is really unbalanced. Our…read moreimpression is that they have taken popular (eastern) asian dishes and turned them arabic taking out ingredients that may be unpopular or even prohibited for some people. Sadly, the careful use of well-chosen, fresh ingredients craftily prepared using original recipes is the essence of asian (japanese, korean, vietnamese,...) cuisine. I'll give just one (yet the most appalling) example: Sushi rolls with baked tuna, drowned in cheddar and cocktail sauce. Why??? The staff were friendly though and the interior is well decorated although again more arabic or middle-eastern than asian. Music was slightly entrancing or meditating, but again, weird. They should probably advertise more clearly what kind of cuisine they serve.

I walked in, and the guy behind the counter seemed a bit pushy, but I mean what halal place isn't right? Good thing is, you can see them grilling and preparing your food. So after all that I've seen and smelled, I decided to dine in. I had to sample everything, so I went with the Mixed Grill Plate. Sorry as I don't recall the price, but I don't remember it costing very much. The plate consisted of a tasty ground lamb kabab, another skewer with beef chenjeh I believe. Or basically a skewer of marinated sirloin beef. Very tasteful in my opinion. There was some slices of chicken shawarma as well which was also full-flavored and delish! All of it sat on some mixed greens and a side of fries. Talk about stuffing my face in hunger! The whole plate was totally filling, and pretty much put an exclamation point to my eating night. As for dining, there were larger tables in the rear of the restaurant, and tables meant for two in the front. Service, I had no issue as the manager (possibly owner) presented my plate and made sure I was fully attended to. He came back several times to check if I needed anything. There really wasn't anything super fancy about this place, but I didn't mind it. It was fast, simple, and filling to say the least. I totally recommend giving these guys a try. They even have other plates, grilled chicken, falafels, and various wraps. as well. Something I'll try on my next visit.

The people running this place are crooks disguised as middle eastern people running a restaurant!…read moreThe amsterdam police should shut them down. They offer pieces of bread as if they were free of charge - but when you are about to pay they add it to your bill even when you have taken only a small sample of the bread. And with their fries, they will offer you some sauce (as if it was included in the set price) - only to be billed $1.95 for a very small packet of sauce. Too bad Netherlands got them as immigrants -- these people should not be allowed to exist as they only give amsterdam a bad name.

I don't have Indonesian food where I live, so was excited to try this in Amsterdam. I thought the dishes were all flavorful and gave a good mix of meat, vegetable, and rice dishes. The individual servings were small, but filling enough because of the heavy coconut milk used in most dishes. 1 star off: The attitude of the waitstaff was abysmal. First of all, their website does not offer reservations and they rarely answer their phones. So my family and I arrived at restaurant opening to get a table. The first thing they said to us was "Do you have a reservation? If you don't, I can only give you a table if you get out by 6:30PM." in a stern way. We said okay. The group that came after me also raised the issue that no one at the restaurant answers their phone for reservations. The waitstaff did not respond to that, but begrudging seated them. 1 star off: While we were ordering food, the waitstaff noticed that my son had a water bottle with him, and proceeded to give him a lecture that water bottles are not allowed and that we have to order water from them. He is a teenager...he does not know he was supposed to conceal his water bottle at this restaurant. We all ordered drinks, including water, but the experience left my family feeling unwelcomed.
