Dinner at Restaurant Ragusa was our final evening in Vienna. After some excellent traditional dinners featuring hearty Viennese specialties we decided a good fish - seafood dinner would be perfect.
After reading and researching online we found a great seafood restaurant. Ragusa's owner is Croatian and the wine list shows that with several whites and reds from that region. All types of fish are offered, Branzino, Dorade, Sea Bream and others.
The restaurant is spacious, tables and booths have plenty of room. The restaurant is attractive and nicely appointed.
We started with a mixed green salad and grilled octopus and both were excellent. The octopus was tender and nicely grilled. I had the Sea Bream which was done perfectly and simply with a wine, butter and herbs. The fish is expertly boned tableside leaving that delicious meat to eat. DW had the prawns over a rich herb risotto which was also delicious.
We were pretty full but decided to split dessert. Asked our friendly server for advice and she recommended the Paradizet and believe me it did not disappoint. Consisted of tender cake surrounded by meringue and creme ingles, dusted with cinnamon and chocolate shavings. It was yummy and enough for three people. The menu said it was "like a snicker doodle", not like one I ever had but still delicious.
We ordered the Croatian Malvasia white wine with our meal and it was excellent. If you are lucky enough to see Croatian white wine, try it. You will not be disappointed read more
