I'm shocked at the amount of positive reviews for this place after a terrible experience.
However, I'd like to start by saying the decor and restaurant itself is beautifully done and our waiter was very nice and attentive at the right times.
We ordered a flat iron (Medium, after being told medium rare was not an option...) and a fillet (rare). When the steaks came we were really excited but unfortunately they were over cooked. The flat iron was completely cooked through, not medium and the fillet was more medium well than rare. When the waiter came to ask how it is going and if everything is ok, I said they are more cooked than we ordered. He continued to give us some, what seemed like pre-rehearsed, excuses about the steak was fine in the kitchen but the lighting out in the garden (it was sunny outside) makes the steaks look grey in the middle but he could ask the kitchen to do another. As we were not in McDonalds, I didn't want my girlfriend to continue eating while I wait for a replacement as it was a birthday celebration, so I said no don't worry about it. It was clear that we were unsatisfied with the steaks but I don't really feel any effort was made to try and win us back, a complimentary sweet or drinks would've been a nice gesture.
The customer next to us also complained that his steak was over cooked...
Then on the way out, already feeling disheartened, (I believe it was) the owner asked how it was, we repeated the fact that they were overcooked, again we got some excuse about the lighting to which I took as an insult to my intelligence. It's an extremely poor excuse that lighting can cause a steak to appear over done. I am totally disappointed with the food and the way our disappointment was handled. Would not recommend to anyone... read more
