Found this restaurant the first night of my stay in Brno, and I'm very happy that I did. I had the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings and everything was absolutely delightful. My server, Linda, chose some wines different to those listed on the menu for the pairings and I was not disappointed with any of them. Great choices. All the food was beautifully presented and delicious, and I particularly liked the main dinner courses of pork cheek and venison. I found the razor clams to be a little bit bland, but since I've never had them before, that may be typical of the dish. For a 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings the price was very reasonable for the excellent quality. The only thing that kept if from 5 stars, for me, was that the decor, which was very bright and contemporary, did not evoke the sense of luxury that the food and its presentation did. read more

Visiting Brno as a stop over between Vienna and Prague, we choose to eat at Restaurant Pavillon which sits in a very modern looking block building in a park. The place is fairly large and was easily able to accommodate our large party of 8. We ate lunch inside, but there were many tables outside. It wasn't very packed, but it was early and only a Thursday. I imagine this place probably becomes busier in the evening. The prices were very reasonable. Most people took advantage of the chef specials, getting a three course meal with drinks/beverages. The head Chef also treated us to a special palate cleanser which consisted of salmon with mustard seeds. The open kitchen shows that the chef has full control of his staff, as you could see the process between preparation and presentation. Personally, I ordered the pasta dish of the day which was quite nice, the eggs Benedict appetizer and a banana bread dessert. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable and the meal / service was great. FLuent in various languages. Perhaps Brno is not the best known location for tourists visiting the Czech Republic, but if you happen to be staying here or passing by, this would be a great place to stop in. I was there with a group of people. We all came to the conclusion, that the dishes are ridiculous small. It's not that I'm not used to this kind of restaurant, where you get a lot of small dishes. I never finished a dinner being hungry. Until my visit in the Pavillon. They put a lot of energy in presenting the food, but even the taste was not superior. So, if you visit a restaurant to make some nice photo for Facebook & co, then this might be a good place for you. If you enjoy good food, there are a lot of much better locations in Brünn. Also, the service was mediocre. They tried to work on a high standard but failed in my eyes completely. To give you an example: There where 3 waiters encircling the table looking for empty glasses. But they filled the very small glasses only to one third or half. Because of this the glasses where very often empty and the waiters disturbed discussion by filling up the glass. And what annoyed me personally was, that the waiter filled up all the time sparkling water, forgetting that I wanted water without sparkles. Why not just put the bottles on the table. I mean it's not unusual that the waiter fills up the wine glasses, but with the water it was just annoying. In the end I give 1 stars. People might like the way of presenting the food and waiters could speak German and English, what's not common in Brno. The rest disappointed me. I thought of giving a secondd star, but I was really hungry leaving the resaurant and had to eat something in the hotel. This happened never before to me and is a game stopper for me. read more
