Pooh, Marie (Pooh's sister), Pooh's father and I came here for supper, last night…read more The ambiance was busy and noisy. Maybe it was just that night but I wouldn't go back for a romantic dinner. We started with drinks. Pooh's dad (Andre) and I had Bloody Caesars, Pooh had a beer and Marie a house cocktail. The cocktail was too floral. Our Caesars were great. For appetizers Marie and Pooh had mussels, Andre, a Caesar salad and I had the French Onion soup. Andre's salad was a good size; Pooh and Marie enjoyed their mussels and my soup was very tasty Before the appetizers arrived a panier of warm bread and buns with a delicious olive oil and parmesan cheese sauce was brought to the table We ordered the Table D'hôte. Marie, Pooh and Andre had the fillet mignon and I had the bavette (flank steak). The cook on the steaks varied. Pooh and I ordered medium-rare; Marie ordered medium and Andre ordered medium-well. Pooh's steak was medium and my steak was medium-rare at the thinner end and very rare (almost blue) at the thicker end. Pooh, Marie and Andre had a baked potato without any butter and I had french fries. We shared two bottles of Italian red wine which was an excellent choice for the steaks. For dessert we had the brownie with ice cream. The brownie was dry - we needed the ice cream to help get it down. Pooh, Andre and I had a Brazilian coffee to wash everything down. Marie was driving. The service was excellent. Our server Édouard was very attentive; always checking on us. He was pleasant and had a friendly smile. Our glasses of water were always filled without us asking. The bathroom was unisex.

I started with the Cream of chicken soup. It was hot, creamy and very tasty. The traditional coleslaw was crispy and delicious without being overly sweet Our server was very perky with a good sense of humour. According to Pooh the restaurant had a major overhaul; it didn't look like it does now but still it was very clean and family friendly. Dessert was included with my meal but I was too full to even think about it For our main meals Pooh ordered chicken nuggets and I ordered two legs. What was great is no bread came with my two legs; I never eat the bread and I never think to say "no bread " I read other reviews that said the chicken skin was plain. I have to agree with that. The chicken itself was very juicy but the skin was tasteless I liked having a side plate for the bones. The fries were delicious too. Most places have the thin fries or frozen fries but these were like the ones I make in the fryer Pooh loved his nuggets. They were crispy outside and real chicken inside. His poutine was delicious; the fries were well cooked, the sauce wasn't too salty and the perfect amount of cheese.

They have a very broad menu with daily specials. I stuck to their speciality. Fries were fine and chicken well cooked. Not dry. The skin was a little bland. The gravy was dark and missed character. Service was quick and friendly. Nothing outstanding nothing wrong. An honest meal for an honest price.
