I went here for Sunday brunch and it was ok. I had a smoked salmon bagel. The smoked salmon itself…read morewas decent - quite smokey actually. The bagel and side fixings were disappointing though. My kids had a butter crepe and waffle w maple syrup from the kids meal. Both were mediocre. Another friend had the "logger special" (or whatever their "big and meaty" option was called). The serving size was huge but none of the components looked particularly good. I don't think I'd revisit for brunch. But maybe I'd try for dinner since it looks like they take that meal more seriously and the other reviews here seem mostly positive. The town area here is lovely and the restaurant itself is decently nice/very clean. It isn't obvious to me that the town offers much in terms of good food experiences, so maybe it's best to come with more reasonable expectations? I don't know.

We then tried the pintade with honey and lavender; it was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked; and the goat burger with homemade fruit ketchup. The meat was a bit overcooked for me but then it seems like chef never care how customers like their meat cooked over here (I have never been asked how I want it cooked!) but it was nevertheless good. An enjoyable dinner experience!

Avoid this place. I don't really take my time to write reviews but this time I will. The staff was…read morerude from start to finish. I came here during Christmas and just wanted to share a meal with some friends. Here is a list of what happened. We asked for a table and before checking what was available they were trying to deny us service. After convincing them to check what they had available they seated us. My friend wanted to order the steak and the waiter asked "Did you see the price of the steak?" Are you kidding me? My girlfriend has certain dietary restrictions and ask what kind of dressing was on the salad and was told "I don't have time for this" and left Finally we were stared at after we finished the meal and was consistently harassed for a tip. Even though we were just relaxing and trying to finish our bottle of wine. I have never been harassed this much just solely based on my ethnicity until that night. And on top of all of this the "gourmet" food they were serving was not even close to the quality we paid for. I could've made the same quality food in my own kitchen. The medium rare filet mignon I ordered came out tough and more closer to medium well than anything. Don't spend your money here really not worth it.

It was my fault for choosing this restaurant over the McDonald's across the street. For the french speakers: Ce restaurant n'est pas bon

This is the spot for baked goods in this area. It has variety and a lovely view of the river. I…read morehad a unique pear pie which has a similar filling to an almond croissant. Croissants were decent. Coffee amazing. So much so, I bought a bag to go. I only been here for lunch and afternoon coffee break, but they also have sandwiches and pizzas. What won me over, as with most of Quebec, is the civilized manner of running business. Never too busy to answer a question and when I forgot my coffee grounds, it was set aside and waiting for me the following morning.

We stopped by Pains d'Exclamation to pick out some bakery items for our long drive home. Having…read morestuffed myself with croissant from all the top-rated bakery in downtown Quebec-city a week earlier, I really wasn't expecting anything comparable from a tiny local bakery in La Malbaie. Well let's just say I was pleasantly surprised... My eyes popped open when I took my first bite into their croissant. It was so incredibly flaky throughout and the outer crust near the edges were delightfully crispy. I would say in terms of flakiness/crispiness, it's as good if not better than the croissants at Le Croquembouche and Paillard in QC. It's not quite as airy as the other two places I mentioned, but it's still in the top-3 of my favorite croissant places in QC (or anywhere for that matter). We also had the strawberry brioche, which was also very good. It wasn't too sweet which I liked, but by the time we ate it, the fruit had leaked into the bread making it a little soggy. Still delicious and eating that fresh would have been amazing. The two bakery items we tried were fantastic, however, I felt the service could have been better. We got a little attitude when we were ordering because we had a difficult time deciding what to get and felt we were rushed. Could have been the language barrier, but I think she could have been more patient. Regardless, putting up with a little attitude from auntie is a small price to pay for tasting their delightful baked goods. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area!
