Truly Exceptional
In April l'Exception moved to a smarter location at 4 cours Jean Jaurès. The food is indeed exceptional, with contrasts sought between tastes and textures, an oriental idea applied to classic French cuisine. For example the deliciously warm foie gras with a tangy rhubard sauce and a little popcorn to give a crunchy texture to the otherwise meltingly soft foie. Sounds strange but it works. Or the Sandra (perch) topped with a fine slice of grilled cheese - again this was strangely delicious. The Chef speaks with each table at the end of the meal, explaining his choices and asking for comments. Reservations are necessary, since space is limited and it was full even on Tuesday. Menus are 29 or 39 Euro. A superior restaurant, even exceptional. read more
