(No) Candlelight - Management inflexible, uninterested, and unprofessional Yesterday, we went to…read morethe Vineria with a couple friends because both ladies had a voucher from the restaurant for a Candlelight Dinner. Our friend had phoned in advance to ask if we could redeem the vouchers together as a group of four, which was initially bluntly refused (the manager's response: "I am busy right now, you have three seconds to explain your request. Otherwise, please send me an email"). The reason given was that Candlelight Dinners are always served at two-person tables. After much back and forth, we were eventually promised a reservation via email. When we arrived at the restaurant last night, the waiter led us to two combined tables for two, which were unfortunately very dirty. The waiter then explained that we could not have a Candlelight Dinner and should order à la carte. The reason given was that Candlelight Dinners are only offered from Monday to Thursday. When we asked why this was the case, we did not receive a clear answer. We initially suspected logistical reasons, but were very wrong: over the course of the evening, we noticed that several couples sitting at the tables around us were indeed served a Candlelight Dinner. The only difference was that we had a voucher from the Vineria itself, while the other guests had one from Jochen Schweizer. After all the unpleasant back and forth and various excuses, we wanted to speak with the manager to have him explain why we received contradictory statements and why there was such inflexibility. He chose not to come to our table to explain the situation personally. Instead, he referred us to a phone call, even though he was on the premises. Conclusion: The unprofessionalism of the management and an annoyed and overwhelmed waiter spoiled our evening, even though the food itself was quite good. From a restaurant with this reputation, one expects more customer-friendliness and flexibility rather than uncooperative behavior in addressing simple customer requests. Receiving contradictory statements and even being lied to is absolutely unacceptable. It hardly matters anymore that the allergies we indicated in advance were also not taken into account.
