Get reservations a few days ahead! We got pizza in the bar, but will get reservations for the fondue next time!
The Heid-Stübli is set in the basement of the Hotel Lenzerhorn, and specializes in fondue and stone-oven pizza. The main dining room books up in advance, but the bar (where you can get drinks and pizza, but no fondue) is first-come, first-serve. We got some Quattro Stagioni pizzas and local red wines; the prosciutto was excellent, as were the mushrooms and green olives.
There's a serious family atmosphere here --- there was an ever-rotating group of kids staring amazedly at the flames in the pizza oven while we were there, and the waitstaff (mostly) dealt with it well.
The décor is rough-hewn-wood-and-antlers --- nicely rustic compared to some of the white-linen places on Voa Principale.
Our pizzas were great --- and we'll be booking some fondue for our next trip. read more
