We followed a family with hoodie-clad preteens into a utilitarian building two blocks off the main drag. The Pizza Rustica listed mushrooms (tender), good melty cheese, and the three most substantial lamb filets I've ever seen on a pie. Plenty of food for one person, but probably not enough for most pairs. Our second dish (both for variety, and to replace mountain-wandering calories) was Tagliatelle Siciliana. Again, large, tender filets (beef this time), and good (if overcooked) pasta. The "Coupe Tiramisu" is a Tiramisu-flavored ice cream sundae, not standard tiramisu --- and it includes Cape Gooseberries and grapes. The only major downside was one insistant fly, which visited our table repeatedly during the meal. That fly needs squashed.

It is a very easy causal environment and you don't have to dress up for this restaurant. I really like the cheese board where you can try different type of meat. The hot stone dish I ordered was a chicken dish but there is also a choice for horse meat which is as good. If you are up for a challenge, try it.

The Heid-Stübli is set in the basement of the Hotel Lenzerhorn, and specializes in fondue and stone-oven pizza. The main dining room books up in advance, but the bar (where you can get drinks and pizza, but no fondue) is first-come, first-serve. We got some Quattro Stagioni pizzas and local red wines; the prosciutto was excellent, as were the mushrooms and green olives. There's a serious family atmosphere here --- there was an ever-rotating group of kids staring amazedly at the flames in the pizza oven while we were there, and the waitstaff (mostly) dealt with it well. The décor is rough-hewn-wood-and-antlers --- nicely rustic compared to some of the white-linen places on Voa Principale. Our pizzas were great --- and we'll be booking some fondue for our next trip.

Pizza was their main thing and that was also just not very good. Cheese didn't stick and dough was a bit too floppy for me. It was a fairly busy place so I thought it must be good, but I fear it's because it's just one of the only places in a ski town.

Love to watch the pizzas being made, going into the oven and coming out of it. Any pizza here has always made me happy. Also, their Tiramisu is homemade and so moist and delicious. Together with the good and friendly service (same people for years there, always is a good sign) makes this a great pizza place in Chur.
