Das Eventlokal "Gdanska" in Oberhausen bietet neben leckeren internationalen Speisen und typischen polnischen Gerichten auch kulturelle Veranstaltungen an. Wer Kultur liebt und dazu noch in Oberhausen wohnt, findet im Restaurant Gdanska seinen Künstlertreffpunkt gleich um die Ecke. Auch Besucher aus anderen Städten Deutschlands und aus den Nachbarländern zieht die gemütliche Kulturlocation an. Das Gdanska wurde bereits 2000 in Oberhausen eröffnet und besitzt mehrere Räume für die zahlreichen Veranstaltungen, die das Haus wöchentlich ausrichtet. Zum vielseitigen kulturellen Angebot serviert das Restaurant jeden Sonntag einen üppigen Brunch mit u.a. polnische Spezialitäten wie Krakauerwurst, Piroggen, Bigos und Würfelklößen in Pilzsoße. Außerdem stehen schmackhafte internationale Speisen auf der Speisekarte des Kulturrestaurants. Das Gdanska, der Name bezieht sich auf die Stadt Danzig, arbeitet eng mit der Stadt Oberhausen, dem Generalkonsulat der Republik Polen und dem polnischen Kulturinstitut in Düsseldorf zusammen.

History

Established in 2000.

Das "Gdanska" wurde 2000 in Oberhausen eröffnet, 2005 um zwei weitere Räume vergrößert. 2006 wurde die Erweiterung mit einem weiteren kleinen Raum abgeschlossen. So entstand aus dem Gdanska die ganze Dreistadt: Gdanska, Sopot, Gdynia plus noch die Kleinstadt Hel (Hela). Die Idee, ein polnisches Restaurant in Deutschland zu eröffnen, war damals gleichermaßen original wie riskant. Zum Glück stellte sich heraus, dass sich das Konzept eines sog. Kultrestaurants bewährte und bei den avisierten Zielgruppen gut ankam. Ein sehr wichtiger Punkt in diesem Konzept war der Standort, Oberhausen Stadtmitte. Oberhausen, wo die polnische Kultur und Polen, als Mitbürger und als Kulturschaffende kein Fremdbegriff sind, war der alles entscheidende Grund, um gerade hier das Restaurant zu eröffnen.

Malinas specializes in Silesian food, which is a specific part of Poland with lots of German influence. The concept is on the higher end, so be prepared to spend 20 EUR per person. I hardly ever see this kind of food in a fancier atmosphere, so the price is justified. I had to try their homemade pierogi and went with the Maria (14.90 EUR): Pierogi stuffed with goat cheese, basil, arugula, homemade walnut pesto, topped with peanuts, walnuts and garlic butter asparagus. Um, my mouth is watering just writing these ingredients! Each bite had a delicious combo of chewy dumpling, cheesy filling and crunchy nuts. It's a modern take on piergoi, but still incredibly satisfying and tasty. I also had a bite of the more traditional meat piregoi (Mama Eugenia, 11.90 EUR) and these were excellent too. For drinks, you have to go with Tyskie (4 EUR for .50 L), the best beer from the Silesia region. They also have a cocktail menu that looked quite good. For something non-alcoholic, they have a special drink menu with fancy fruit drinks. I went with the Rhubarb Strawberry soda with fresh mint & strawberry (3.30 EUR), YUM. Besides the good food, the interior is super cool. It's definitely young but still a place that families can enjoy. The servers were nice too, more smiles & chattiness than the norm for sure. Lovely experience overall and a wonderful place to celebrate / take guests / go randomly to fill up on fancy pierogi!

Wir waren schon mehrfach im Gdanska essen. Die Location an sich ist urig und mit passendem Flair eingerichtet. Es ist auch generell einiges los, so dass eine Reservierung manchmal nötig ist. Unangenehm ist uns aufgefallen, dass nach dem ersten Besuch von dem wir begeistert waren das Essen bei weiteren Besuchen immer anders geschmeckt hat. Auch kam es öfter vor, dass man die jeweiligen Portionen zu unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten serviert bekommt. Ein No-Go meiner Meinung nach. Einer kann Essen, die anderen Beiden warten noch. Essen war auch manchmal kalt. Manche Tische sind auch einfach zu klein bemessen. Sehr gut sind die Rohkostsalate, aber auch da bekommt man immer was anderes serviert. Optimal ist das polnische Bier, was immer super kalt war. Nachdem jedoch unserer letzter Besuch vom Essen sooo enttäuschend war, gehen wir dort nun nicht mehr hin. Als Alternative für polnisches Essen haben wir das Belweder in Duisburg entdeckt. Super Essen dort, wenn auch die Karte recht überschaubar ist. read more

War vor ein paar Tagen in Oberhausen einen Freund besuchen, und abends sind wir in ein Polnisches Restaurant gegangen, das Gdanska. Ich war erst eher skeptisch, aber mein kumpel meinte das wäre die Szenekneipe schlecht hin! Naja dachte ich mir, probieren geht über studieren. Als wir dort ankammen war ich als erstes von dem Oldtimer begeistert der vor dem Gdanska ausgestellt ist, als ich den Chef vom Gdanska später fragte was das für ein Auto sei, meinte er es ist das einzige Auto was bis heute der polnischen Ingeneurkunst entsprungen sei. Sieht schon lusig aus die Kiste! Das Restaurant/Kneipe ist echt super, das polnische Bier schmeckt lecker, und die Kellnerinen sind wirklich ein hingucker. Ich habe nur ein Salat gegessen, der hat gut geschmeckt, war sehr groß und nur 5Euro gekostet. Also Preis/Leistung -spitze Ist eine Lohnenswere Kneipe wenn man mal in Oberhausen ist. read more

Das Gdanska bietet authentische, leckere polnische Gerichte an. Mit Zywiec oder Tyskie vom Faß kommt jeder Biertrinker auf seine Kosten. Im Sommer ist der Biergarten des Gdanska absolut zu empfehlen! read more
