Malinas specializes in Silesian food, which is a specific part of Poland with lots of German influence. The concept is on the higher end, so be prepared to spend 20 EUR per person. I hardly ever see this kind of food in a fancier atmosphere, so the price is justified. I had to try their homemade pierogi and went with the Maria (14.90 EUR): Pierogi stuffed with goat cheese, basil, arugula, homemade walnut pesto, topped with peanuts, walnuts and garlic butter asparagus. Um, my mouth is watering just writing these ingredients! Each bite had a delicious combo of chewy dumpling, cheesy filling and crunchy nuts. It's a modern take on piergoi, but still incredibly satisfying and tasty. I also had a bite of the more traditional meat piregoi (Mama Eugenia, 11.90 EUR) and these were excellent too. For drinks, you have to go with Tyskie (4 EUR for .50 L), the best beer from the Silesia region. They also have a cocktail menu that looked quite good. For something non-alcoholic, they have a special drink menu with fancy fruit drinks. I went with the Rhubarb Strawberry soda with fresh mint & strawberry (3.30 EUR), YUM. Besides the good food, the interior is super cool. It's definitely young but still a place that families can enjoy. The servers were nice too, more smiles & chattiness than the norm for sure. Lovely experience overall and a wonderful place to celebrate / take guests / go randomly to fill up on fancy pierogi!

In this case, it was a VERY good recommendation. It is clearly best especially when comparing with all the bars around it. Those either look shady, sad or have annoying music playing in the background. This one is way more chilled, a really nice decor (has an 'old tavern' style going on) and the food has germanic proportions. The staff is nice but don't take their recommendation for the Kolsch beer, there are better options out there. As for the food, well, I didn't order anything fancy just a regular steak which was decent enough, but the prices were really friendly!

An den Tischen auf der Straße oder hinten im Biergarten sitze ich gerne. Hier gibt es immer was zu gucken und zu hören :) Positiv ist auch, dass hier Fußballspiele gezeigt werden, besonders auch die des 1. FC Köln. Da kommt dann richtig Stimmung auf. Was meines Erachtens gar nicht geht, ist leider das Essen. Es ist - man muss es so hart formulieren - ein Totalausfall. Deshalb gibt es auch nur zwei Sterne. Es ist so schade, dass in dieser an sich netten Kneipe, so nachlässig damit umgegangen wird ...
