Unfortunately, it is located right next to a church that rings its bells every 15 minutes ALL NIGHT. I came here to get sleep prior to a conference, and in the eight hours I spent in bed I only logged 2 hours of sleep according to my watch (none according to me). Neither the room nor the hotel staff were able to provide ear plugs. There were no other rooms that were not next to the church and according to the front desk no nearby shops were open to sell ear plugs. I came to appreciate why our digital phones often simulate bell sounds for the alarms designed to wake us up. I admit that I may be grouchy at the moment, but as further advice to the staff of this hotel, I do think that if alarm clocks are provided they should show the current time. Most people now a days have a mobile phone that is an accurate watch and alarm. So while an alarm clock may be optional, if it is provided it should be set correctly.

The staff is super friendly and eager to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. The rooms and clean and comfortable with beautiful views windows to look out at. They have shared bathrooms but they are always clean and ready to go. They serve a traditional breakfast here with wonderful breads, cheeses, cereals, sliced meats and fruit. Just what you need to start the day off. I would highly recommend this place to any travelers. I'll definitely stay here again the next time we pass through.

I asked a lot of questions about sites to see and places…read moreto go and how to get there and each time I asked it was usually a different front desk person, and they were each super helpful and kind and knew what they were talking about. They gave me a bus pass for free to see more of the city which was great. The hotel is very centrally located being less than 2 minutes from the train station and bus stations and being very close to many of the major sites including museums. Just crossing over a bridge will get you to Old Town super quick, so it was really nice to be so close to everything. I had a bit of an issue around midnight with some of the other hotel guests being loud in the hallway but I gave the front desk a call and they fixed the situation immediately and made sure that if anything else was an issue to let them know and they'd fix it. Super helpful and super kind staff. All around great stay!!

Their English speaking skills were very good and the process was smooth. The next step was to have a ceremonious glass of wine and what a beautiful restaurant with a full separate bar and lounge area. The views are amazing of Lake Luzern and the historic area. Absolutely stunning vies and great experience. So happy Viking put us up here for our first time visit to Switzerland.

This hotel was booked through Viking Cruises for the end of our river cruise. It is a beautiful hotel with really good customer service. The morning breakfast was included with our package, and it was very good. Besides the price the other complaint that I had was that the stand-alone shower was smaller than the one on our cruise ship.

I'll agree with other reviews (on TripAdvisor), that it does feel more like a bed & breakfast and not so much a "fancy hotel". We stayed in room #46 and was actually shocked to see that the room key was an actual "key". We get so used to those cards that you just slide in to unlock the door. Anyway, we climbed up the stairs and it does feel like you are at somebody's house. There is a lift/elevator, but it's quite small. The hallways are dim, but once you enter the room, it was much larger than I was expecting. You actually enter into a hallway with closet space on the left with the bathroom to the right and then through another door leading into the bedroom. I guess that was nice to block out any noise coming from the main hallway (if other guests are coming in late or making a lot of noise). The rooms don't have much décor and are very plain with white walls, and white sheets. Who needs any décor when you have such a spectacular view though!! We had a small balcony overlooking the lake and mountains. It felt so unreal and so beautiful. You seriously could not get sick of that view! Absolutely breathtaking! The one thing I will point out is the shower is so small! I honestly don't think a large set person would be able to shower in there. Also, if you drop the soap... that's it! haha. So WiFi is not free. We paid 20 Swiss francs for 1 hour of WiFi. They give you a code to put in. Honestly, I thought that was a pretty good deal. We were so exhausted from the day's events that one hour of internet was pretty much all we needed before we knocked out. It's just long enough to check your email, Facebook and post a few photos on Instagram. Breakfast is included and it was decent. Croissant, bread, eggs, yogurt, juice, cold cut meats. The staff here was pleasant and they were welcoming to us. The hotel is not far from town. My husband and I took a walk and strolled around the shops and restaurants and also to the bridge. A lot of the shops there are not open late and we even stumbled into a McDonald's where they had burgers on bagels and McFlurry with Toblerone and Ovaltine. Haha.. awesome. The hotel also gives you a packet with coupons and you can take one of the coupons into town and get a free Rolex spoon! If we were to come back, we would definitely consider staying here again.

On the service front: The check in person (a young lady with long hair) was very very rude. I ordered a family room for 4 persons, and she insisted that I have a family room for 2 persons in the system and I cannot have an extra person in the family room even though the room has beds for 3 people. She insisted that I have to book a new family room with a higher price. I was being nice and I agreed to booking another family room since I was tired and I didn't want to argue further. I got the key and got into the room -- both of them were regular rooms! Not even family room! I went back down to complain but she told me fiercely that we only had 4 people and she thought that we don't need 2 family rooms. The rooms I paid for were for family rooms and even if she wanted to give us regular rooms she should have asked first and not charge me 2 family rooms. She didn't even say sorry at all and she kept giving me and my sister a hostile look throughout the whole process. Her service is super bad I will never ever come back to this hotel again!

Amazing hotel. I found this place six years ago on Instagram and have been wanting to stay ever…read moresince. It's a little hard to get to, but that is the price you pay for such remote beauty. The staff are amazing, the rooms are gorgeous, the views are spectacular, the service is top-notch, and the dining is delicious. I got a corner room on the top floor with two balconies and a window that overlooked further up the mountain. I had the delight on seeing some cows out there on my first morning. I utilized the pool everyday, got a massage at the spa on my second day, and ate at the restaurant onsite everyday for breakfast and dinner. I recommend all of it! It can get chilly out on the terrace, even in summer, so they have thick fur coats at your disposal for when you want to sit outside. There is a smoking/cigar room inside and ability to smoke outside on the terrace. The staff will also bring anything to you anywhere onsite if you just call and ask. They have elevated plastic ware available for poolside dining. Overall, highly recommend!!

The rooms were well appointed but I wish they had been a little more cozy and a little less corporate. At breakfast the first morning, my friend and I both ordered the overnight oats. When the dish came we both assumed it was an amuse bouche because the portion size was hilariously small. Like shot glass size. I still giggle when I think about it. It turns out that all the breakfast portions are small because you can order an unlimited amount of dishes and they don't like food waste. While I can certainly appreciate that, it would have been nice if our server had explained that when we placed our order. We were better prepared the next morning. The food overall in Switzerland was just not my favorite. It was good but under seasoned for my taste. My favorite dishes at dinner were probably the carrot coconut soup and the summer salad. The large pool at Villa Honegg is certainly the star of the show. It's heated and open until 11pm and we spent as much time there as we could. The one downside about this hotel is that it is a 20-30 minute drive into down for any activities or reservations at other hotels. It is worth it for the view but know that you need to make plans well in advance for offsite activities.
