My husband's friend recommended we eat there while in Santiago, Chile. The restaurant is popular. Beautiful space with multiple dining areas and a speakeasy! We failed to make a reservation but were so lucky that night. Service was great. Limited English but we managed with our limited Spanish lol. I want to move here just for this bar!!! A good piano bar is so hard to find - the scene has been taken over by dueling piano shows and it feels like someone took my love of music to disneyland or mcdonalds. Well - Don Carlos is NOT that - it is amazing - great space, great talent, great crowd. An amazing night. I can't say enough good things about the staff - not being local at a local place, makes it interesting sometimes - but they went out of their way to make us welcome and we had the best time. Made friends and enjoyed what music is meant for - community. Bringing people together that may have nothing more in common than their love of music and talents. Visited Santiago and was walking around and found this gem. Argentine BBQ I had the Rib Eye steak with a side of Au Gratin potatoes. The steak was so tasty and tender cooked perfectly to order, medium rare. Had difficulty ordering as I don't speak spanish and the staff doesn't understand English very well. Ordered from pictures on the menu. The waiter was so very patient and helpful, took the time to try and make sure my order was exactly what I expected. He succeeded and much more. Ok... I'm not a huge carnivore but the husband wanted carne on our last night. Everything is kinda ala carte. So I ordered a bunch of veggie sides. Veggies: ok.. Spinach was the best. Just ok Meat: I didn't eat but one bite but husband said it was a little chewy Wine: menu was amazing, pretty decent prices!! And very extensive. After a week of traveling thru Peru and Chile, I had my share of fish and seafood for the week, so a little Argentinian beef was the right call. This place was just what the doctor ordered, the NY strip could not have been prepared any better. It was tender and tasty, the fries were dusted with garlic and parsley. The wine I selected, a Miguel Torres Cordillera Carmenere 2009, was the perfect pairing. I would definitely come back and I definitely recommend it. read more

So it was Christmas, and clearly our dreary and indifferent waiter wanted to be somewhere else. We were ignored almost entirely prior to and after ordering; after being served and had to seek out our check 20 minutes after our table was cleared and no effort was made to get us desert or coffee. If a business does open on a holiday, there is no need to have mediocre to no effort at providing a meal similar to what is described below in others' experience. That said, the empanadas were the worst we have eaten anywhere, the entrees were delicious and cooked nicely, wouldn't recommend as there are so many other steak houses happy to welcome diners. read more

My partner and I came across to this restaurant since my fiancé loves steak. Gilbert did an awesome service, very nice and polite. We ordered the Chilean Sea bass omg it's so so tender and delicious one of the best Chilean sea bass I ever had. My fiancé ordered a rib eye and it was so tasty we did empty our plates:) the only thing I didn't like was my salad there were all big slices and I wish they make a bit smaller next time. Great place for a special meal. Ambiance: Fine dining with white cotton service. Good for a date, special occasion or someplace to take VIPs. Service: Waiters are reasonably attentive but not very friendly. If you like the stand-offish approach this place is for you. Our guy (well, they're all guys), didn't offer much advice on the wine list, but fortunately the list was all good. Food: Best steak I've had in STG. Cooked to order, rested properly and delivered precisely as desired - I ordered "a punto" and it was a perfect medium-rare. We had the "papilla special for 2-3" and our 3 people were more than overfed. A good variety of meats/cuts from lean sirloin to ribs and T-bones. Good quality too, not a cheap cut in the bunch. Sides are ordered extra but the potatoes I had were excellent, but I'd say the salad my friend had was pretty average. Price: Pretty pricey - even by Las Condes standards. If you have the money and hankering for a great steak, go for it. read more

Just finished dinner at Don Carlos. Have been travelling for 4 weeks and experienced a lot of restaurants. Food was very good, steak and salmon but the service was lacking. No waiting staff could speak English or be of help with the menu. Waiter did not return to our table during the meal and when we finally got to order desert he brought two orders instead of the one we originally wanted. Slow to ask if we wanted to pay our bill and still expected a 10% gratuity. I guess we didn't order enough wine to get any attention. read more

Excellent, and frankly, surpasses most every one of the restaurants I've been to Buenos Aires. Try the Lomo or entrana. An excellent wine list too. Service was excellent. We ate there twice during our week in Santiago. It was that good !! You won't be disappointed. read more
