This is a large restaurant supply store. You need to be a member to shop there. However, you can get a day pass. You find everything you need here to run your restaurant or your Gresham Farmers Market baklava stand... Customer service tends to be good. Sometimes though it's hard to find help because the place is so large. They have humongous Frozen food section. You really need a good if you're going to spend anytime in there. This place is pretty insane. Like Costco, you need to be a member. I do shops on occasion for customers like a business on a busy Saturday that needed a box of smile face take out bags during service. They make Costco look like a 7-11 as far as size goes and their cashiers are always very friendly - everyone has that 'in the know' business feel to them which is not for everyone. The huge racks going in are amusing since people are shopping here for cases. Definitely drop on it if you want to do a whole lot of walking. read more

Me & other 2 customers got line when the cashier so busy then other man jump in to cut of line, I told him had to get line he said no more get line, then the cashier said (NO MORE GET LINE IF YOU GET LINE PEOPLE WILL CUT OF THE LINE WE ARE NOT CONTROL THAT....). This was my first time buying items at Restaurant Depot. I was treated disrespectfully by check out staff. Apparently I didn't know the proper procedure for checking out at the store. I was waiting behind the yellow line and when the person was paying in front of me, I pulled up my cart and was ready to check out. Then I was told to go to wait behind the yellow line and go to the end of the line. I really didn't understand that and don't know why I was treated disrespectfully like that. read more

My husband and I went to one of the Depot Restaurants in clackamas, Oregon on Friday 9-1-23. We were treated very disrespectful by one of the staff. We're the regular customers at that store and know how their line works when checking out at the register. I'm not saying that customer is always right, but for a staff that works for the store you shouldn't have conflict with your customer. First, it should be noted that you must register with them as a business to get access. So for the general public, you won't gain entry. FYI Pluses: *Prices on certain items are definitely lower. I think they have the buying power where you're not paying for a middle man. Minuses: *You have to buy in cases so you can't "a la carte" purchase like at a Cash & Carry. *We too got our 'credit information' stolen from their database. Huge hassle *Not very friendly staff *The check out? it's like Fort Knox. They have so many theft protocols in place it takes WAY too long to checkout. Bottom Line: If you're a restaurant on the medium to larger scale, their prices could be worth the shortcomings. For everyone else, I find Cash & Carry (the Vancouver one is particularly good) to be a better fit. Faster checkouts, a la carte purchases, friendlier crew. read more

If it was not for pricing a would buy all my supplies from Cash & Carry across the street. Right before you even walk in the door you are affronted by a billion signs telling you do's and don'ts. I made an inquiry about buying something in bulk and was never gotten back to. The front end staff is not very friendly or helpful. Though, the warehouse guys are generally helpful and friendly. Maybe they have a different manager over them? In short, they don't hold a candle to the competition across the street when it comes to customer service. If Cash and Carry did price matching, Restaurant depot would be closed. At least here in Portland. If you can avoid going here, I would. read more

I like Restaurant Depot for fresh produce. I'm posting this because we received a letter from Restaurant Depot when they discovered that some of their customer's credit card information had been stolen. They state the date of discovery of this was on 12/04/2012. The letter was dated 12/17/2012. Instead of getting on the phone to call their customers, warning them of the fraud, they wrote a letter. We of course, didn't go to the mailbox until almost a week after it was mailed. We checked our CC statement, and indeed, we had been one of the victims. I consider the way they handled this situation to be problematic. There should have been phone calls made, and not an un-timely letter sent. If there is another occurance of this, we will have no choice but to stop shopping there. read more

The management here is literally the worst. I've never seen a company that is so unwilling to be friendly or thank a person for their patience when their system is down or you call because you left something there and they say yes we have it here for you and then you show up and they can't find it and act like its your fault and that you must be trying to steal the box of paper towels even though you have the receipt and are a once a week customer..... Or how about when there are 4 people in the office and two lanes open and 6 people in each line with a ton of stuff....???!!! read more

I've been a restaurant owner/operator for 25 years. I know good customer service... This ain't it. Getting in and around the store is a pain.... The selection on produce is so-so... I'll never buy meat from there again... Nasty nasty nasty.... Bought meat that stank so bad when my crew unpackaged it later the same day at my restaurant it nearly made them sick. I called to have Restaurant Depot make it right.... Nothing but hassle... They wanted me to bring the meat back to verify it was rancid.... #1 I don't have time for that-- I have a busy store to run... #2 I'm not going to lie to get a credit or refund for $50 worth of meat... Yeah, I "saved" 35 cents a pound-- but at what cost? Better do business with Cash & Carry or FSA... On my last visit one of the cashiers had a "boom-box" that the manager used to play some Bangladeshi electro-techo-punk over the stores PA system. It was so loud and annoying that I left my cart and never came back. read more

3 stars for prices and selection. 2 for attitude-I spend $1000 twice per week and at least 50% of the people are extremely crabby every time I go, even the managers WTH? The man who takes care of the lot is extremely helpful every time and the greeters are always cordial however. Oh yeah the fish manager is cool too. Great cheap place to get your bulk. The guys on the floor are respectful and nice. I had a good experience which I usually do. But there is this one lady, Britney, who works front end. She's very rude and glares. I've encountered her in person on one accession, her demeanor was off & she was rude when all she had to do was answer my question. Then I called one time and she was very rude then hung up ON ME before I could say anything else. I take it she doesn't like her job lol. But who's fault is that ??? They need better customer service in their front end!!!! For sure! read more
