The Crusch Alba is closed, and the hotel is being converted into condos. No evidence the restaurant will ever re-open.

A long overdue review of this nice restaurant that we visited in September. My friends and I…read morevisited this restaurant after a full day hiking outdoors, so we were pretty hungry. Our waitress seemed a little grumpy at first but she quickly warmed up to this and turned out to be quite patient and friendly. Just be aware that German is the main language there, so ordering can be a little challenging if you don't speak any. I speak some German and there was helpful gentleman on the staff who spoke decent English, so we were able to get the menu figured out. Fortunately, it was fall and hunting season was in full swing, so one of the meat options was venison (Hirsch), which I promptly ordered and which came with a variety of sides. In addition, I also wanted to try the barley soup. Picture yourself, breathing fresh mountain air, sitting in a quaint cozy restaurant with white walls, wooden beams and tables, situated on the square of a little mountain village, on top of a hill, in the beautiful and picturesque Engadin region of Switzerland and you already feel like you have been rewarded in this life with a beautiful experience even before the food arrives. The food was very nice. While the preparations may not have been the most avant garde preparations, you could tell the food had been prepared with care, love and attention, probably using tried and trusted recipes. There is a reason some dishes are classics, the flavors and the combinations just work. We all had great meals that we thoroughly enjoyed. Being in the Engadin region, I simply could not pass up trying a classic Engadin nusstorte (think pecan pie but better) to finish an already wonderful meal. Dining there wasn't cheap (close to 200 Euros for 3 people include tip) but nothing is cheap in Switzerland. We had essentially ordered 3 courses each and I was happily stuffed. Definitely worth visiting. PS. If the weather allows it, definitely check out the view from the back terrace. It is simply spectacular.

As an American used to variety of cuisines, and adaptations to them I often find the food in Germany and Austria regions very typical. We tried this restaurant and had excellent food, preparation was excellent, it came with actual vegetables, and the service was very fast. We had the spaghetti and the meat skewer, both excellent and he green salad had very good dressing! It was our first time but will be back to try more of the menu!

Nice but greasy! DONT HAVE THE KAISERSCHMARREN! traditional austrian food cooked quite well apart…read morefrom the kaiserschmarren. We went twice in one week. Prices are reasonable. 5 stars for interiors. 3 for the food. First time I had the pan fried zander filet with boiled potatoes smothered in butter and herbs. it all seemed fresh and well cooked, but really greasy. The lettuce was a bit gritty. My friend had the rösti with bacon and mushrooms. Again very greasy, but tasty. The portion was quite small. Drinks were expensive, 5 euros for a johannisbeersaft gespritzt. Second time, I tried the kaiserschmarren and my friend had pizza. Kaisershmarren was burnt (charred black on one side) and doughy in the middle. Pizza was good but quite small. Don't think we ll be running back here.
