It's hidden down a quiet courtyard, right in the middle of the city but completely away from the noise and bustle. Totally one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. The atmosphere here is just magical -- rustic, romantic, and old-fashioned in the best way. Even though we were seated outside in chilly weather, it still felt cozy and inviting. You could tell this was one of those restaurants that lives and breathes its history. Now, the food -- We ordered the duck breast with red porto jus and gratin dauphinois, and the beef stew. The gratin was so good -- creamy, cheesy, and perfectly comforting. The duck, though, was a bit of a letdown -- quite tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing because the sauce was lovely. The beef stew, on the other hand, came out piping hot (just how I like it!) and was hearty and flavorful, though a tad on the sweet side for my taste. Still, it was delicious overall. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and never hovering. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. Our bill came to just under $100 USD, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality, setting, and experience. If you're wandering around Antwerp and want to escape the crowds while enjoying a cozy, candlelit meal in a spot full of old-world charm, this is the place to go.

Apparently they are supplied by patrons. There seemed to be a good mix of locals and tourists. The menu is straightforward enough. I ordered mussels in a white wine sauce and it was quite the feast. I had the dark beer which is my favorite but they have a really good list. Ed tried the house 'red' beer that turned out to be very fruity, but with a hearty alcohol content. He ordered one thing, veal, but what came out seemed ab entirely different dish, chicken and pork. He enjoyed it so it was OK. He ordered potato croquettes with it and they were good. I thought I might get the ubiquitous fries (frites) but that didn't happen. They did give me a container of mayonnaise which one would assume is for fries, but when I inquired the waiter said it was for the mussels (?!) I guess I had to take his word for it. The portions were good and we left satisfied even with the glitches.

I ordered: - Shrimp croquette - there's small shrimps in this. Not small pieces of shrimp, but small shrimps. A bit of a surprise for me. Was OK tasting. - Fries - used to dip in my stew. I will admit maybe this is a ME thing, but the fries I've had here in general have not been stellar. Too potato-y and not crispy enough. - Beef stew - supposed to be the highlight. Flavors were OK, but the meat was just kind of dry and not very tender. After a while the sauce was a bit salty. The portion was good though. Overall OK, just the beef stew wasn't that great for me. It seems I should have ordered the mussels though, as so many other tables ordered it. Next time I will try that instead!

I had the chicken and hummus "toast" which is thick-cut, fresh bread lightly toasted and piled high with fresh grilled chicken, hummus, salad, pickled veg (which I swapped for seasonal veg). My husband had the roast beef toast with similar ingredients save for the meat. It was tasty but required deconstructing and eating with knife and fork ... and I kept getting distracted by the quinoa salads topped with goat's cheese that came out and looked yummy (and were most popular). There was also a quinoa base quiche that looked lovely and sold out fast. Service was friendly but took some time (just down to being busy not necessarily inefficiency or lack of trying). Good selection of local beers and Belgium based juices and teas, and wine and cocktails too. Focus on local, healthier options including alternatives to meat and grains, and on the more expensive side as these types of cafes tend to be: our bill was €38 for two sandwiches, a soup of the day, a beer and a juice

My mum and I had something to celebrate and we both wanted to eat some good Italian without having the hassle of going into the city centre so we decided to go to Daniele Il Divino. Parking was a breeze, we found a spot right in front of the door but I can imagine that it gets more difficult at peak times as there is no dedicated parking for them. The restaurant setting is really beautiful, the neighborhood is just really pretty and the glass dome inside really compliments the location - although a bit outdated it doesn't feel wrong. The food is also a hit, this time I had the pasta with truffles which was very good. I have tried several other dishes before: the grilled giant prawns are delicious and the pasta is always cooked nicely al dente. In addition, their tiramisu is scrumptious. It's Italian classics done properly. So why not more than 3 stars? The service is consistent: consistently rude, uncaring and inattentive. As a result, I find Danieli Di Divino overpriced: on more than one occasion I've paid between 80 to 100 euro a person. At that price point I expect good quality food and excellent service. The food is indeed not bad but it is being dragged down by the extremely snobby waitstaff. There are many other good restaurants in Antwerp who do combine excellent service with fantastic food within this range. I've deliberately waited a few times before writing a review: I like their food but I cannot help it to feel ripped off every time I go. Regardless of the price, I do think everyone should be treated with respect. Bottom line: I want to like Danieli Di Divino but I don't and I prefer to spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

Please Read ! Terrible evening Friday 2nd June. Appalling…read moreand disgraceful insult from the female manager on the night, I believe her name is Ennis. I am visiting from London with my wife and 2 children Aged 5 & 7. The food and service the night before was outstanding and so this was our 2nd successive night there. Sadly we had only been at our table about 10 mins and the drinks arrived. The waiter accidentally spilt a hot latte over my wife as he was giving us our drinks. It was hot unlike the ridiculous remark from this manageress as she comments saying it was not hot as the milk had cooled it down. It was very hot. My wife's white blouse was ruined and she stank of coffee. It went over her cardigan and also hurt her arm although no damage to the arm but it was painful at the time. I will leave a picture of my wife's blouse. The manageress offered to have it cleaned and I explained we go home in the morning so wouldn't work. She then offered my wife 1 drink, I jumped in and said no to which she then offered me 1 drink and when I said no, then she offered our 2 children a drink. Come on, 1 lousy drink. I declined. At the end of the main course as we didn't really stay long as the night was sort of ruined. This manageress now insulted us 10 fold by discounting the bill 4 euros. I immediately pulled her up and said this is an outrageous insult, my wife's meal should have at least been free, I mean a pizza. Realistically though on reflection we should have been offered all our meals for free as the Manager who has to take the responsibility for anything like this happening would show some decency. No just a 4 Euro Latte for free. I felt her attitude was arrogant and literally she was now embarrassing me in front of my family, making me argue the case that 4 euros was not an insult and normally she would give nothing. And really from then on it was just silly sarcastic comments back and forth. I mean lets go Out for a meal and have a hot latte poured over you and then be made to defend an outrageous gesture of so called good will in front of everyone. In the end and very reluctantly she deducted my wife's pizza from the bill. But adds the cost of the latte that she had previously deducted. The point is This lady didn't care and how dare she treat us like this and ruin our evening. Darren Dutch: Vreselijke avond vrijdag 2 juni. Darren
